Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 5 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

We again had band guests in the studio this week, as Brian Walker and Dean Kepner - The BSXpress - joined us! We discussed the group, its beginnings, career, live show and music, plus played songs from the group's CD Commuter! We also debuted new songs from The Buckos, The Ben Dumm 3, Tom Nevers Field and Blind Accuracy; plus updated "Local Music News," and dug out a 1994 number by Indiana's Absence Of L for our "Local Music Flashback!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 020523.)

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

BLACK RIDGE - "Live Fast (And Leave a Good Looking Corpse)"
BAD LUCK LOVER BOYS - "Pirate Song"
THE BSXPRESS - "Gas Station Chicken Sandwich"
POST TRAUMATIK - "Flight of the Mothman"
THE BSXPRESS - "What Do You Do"
THE BUCKOS - "Diesel Fuel & Asphalt"
THE BSXPRESS - "9K"
CHIP & THE CHARGE-UPS - "Paying Back the Devil"
THE BEN DUMM 3 - "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame"
RIK GOLDEN - "Where Did You Go"
TOM NEVERS FIELD - "Keep It Safe"
PRIVATE I - "Deedles"

HOUR TWO:

INSIDE OUT - "In My Blood"
FYRE - "Doctor Doctor"
THE BSXPRESS - "Blood Eagle"
SUBURBAN DOWNGRADE - "Serenity"
THE BSXPRESS - "Lake of Fire"
ABSENCE OF L - "Terminally Stupid" (1994, Local Music Flashback)
THE BSXPRESS - "Crash Down"
LESS THAN ZERO - "Really Rotten"
BLIND ACCURACY - "No Wave Jose"
THE DAYLIGHT SOCIETY - "Hollywood Murder Show"

We know we're up against big competition from the sporting world during next week's program - so if you could care less who wins between the Philadelphia and Kansas City teams, or loathe the prospect of suffering through another mundane Super sportsball halftime show - listen to the "Homegrown Rocker" as we debut lots of new tunes, update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear an out-of-state band or artist, and review Keith Randall's Aspire album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (February 12) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com, and on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM, online at www.1071jack.fm!

In Local Music News...

Several well-known area music names are merging their talents into a new band project. The Bomb Cyclones feature both ends of the Mellissa and Kenny duo, with Mellissa Vella on lead vocals and Kenny Karlheim on lead and rhythm guitar. Rich Johnson also will play lead and rhythm guitar, Bill Nusom will play bass, and Paul Caracciolo II will play drums. The Bomb Cyclones will make their official debut on Friday, February 10 at Altoona’s 4D’s Lounge.

Lancaster’s Eternal Frequency has a new drummer, as the group announced this past week that Ryan Seritti takes over behind their drum kit. Ryan previously played in the bands Capture The Crown, Gas Station Disco and Phazed.

Altoona heavy metal rockers SamarA are seeking a new frontman, as Eric Pensyl has announced he is stepping away from the group to devote time to other priorities.

Williamsport area classic rockers Mason Dixon have announced the addition of a keyboard player, as Elmira, New York transplant Jeff Titus joins the group.

And some personnel updates for Morgantown, West Virginia bluegrassers The Hillbilly Biscuits (formerly Hillbilly Gypsies)…The group has a new fiddle player, as Gray Buchanan has taken over that position. And after filling in on upright bass with the group for the past year and a half, former Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers upright bassman Niko Kreider has joined the Biscuits as an official member.

That's a look at “Local Music News.” Bands and artists with news items to report on the program may email their information to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
