Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 2 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

We welcomed the return of this week's guests, Paul and Joey from western PA rockers Black Ridge (www.blackridgeofficial.com)! We caught up on the latest Black Ridge happenings, and heard songs from the group's latest EP Raw Power and their other recordings! We also updated "Local Music News," dug out a 1997 tune by State College's Box from the archive for our "Local Music Flashback," and debuted a new song from The Badlees! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 040223.)

Here is this week's playlist:

WAX MEKANIX - "All Freaks"
DUSTIN RAINEY - "The Devil Drowns Them Out"
BLACK RIDGE - "Raw Power"
THE BADLEES - "What I've Wasted"

We have guests in studio for our next program as well, as members of Altoona area alternative rock foursome Paper Plants will visit us! We'll meet the band members and learn their story, plus explore their music, creative process, live show and more! And we'll feature songs off both of their EP's! We'll also update "Local Music News" and dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archives! Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (April 9) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com, and on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM, online at www.1071jack.fm!

Breaking Benjamin and early 1970s hitmakers The Buoys were among several performers inducted into the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall Of Fame during the organization’s annual induction ceremony and awards event, which happened on Thursday night at the Hershey Theatre. Famous for their 1971 Top-20 hit song “Timothy,” The Buoys were the first band inducted during the first hour of the event; three of the group’s surviving members received the award and performed acoustic versions of both “Timothy” and their follow-up single, “Give Up Your Guns.” Guitarist Aaron Fink, bassist Mark Klepaski and drummer Jeremy Hummel received their induction and thanked the audience for their support during the past two decades, and the group Ignite The Fire performed a rendition of Breaking Benjamin’s “Breath.” Other inductees included the Harrisburg-based band The Legends, which Dan Hartman was affiliated with before he left to join the Edgar Winter Group, Harrisburg 1950s and 60s soul and R&B group The Quin-Tones, and 1970s pop and funk group The Maxwell Project. Meanwhile, Cody Tyler & Gypsy Convoy, Bobby Gentilo and Hunter Root were double-award winners during the 2022 Central Pennsylvania Music Awards presentation, which took place alongside Hall Of Fame inductions. Cody Tyler and his group won swards for Best Country Band and Album/Ep of the Year for their “Stare Your Demons Down” album. Harrisburg’s Bobby Gentilo won the awards for Best Blues Band and Best New Band. And Lancaster’s Hunter Root won the Best Songwriter award, while his band, Medusa’s Disco, captured the Best Rock Band award. For a total list of award winners, visit the website www.cpmhof.com.

The Cre814 Music, Art and Makers Festival will make its return in early fall at a new location. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and will showcase original music performers, local artists and creators from throughout the region. Performers at this year’s event will include The Jaded Lips, Sweet Desire, Lucid Yooth & the Cubensis Lenses, Walkney, The Pennsoulvanians, Briarwood Bluegrass Band, Nathanial Mark, Nate Gates, Bree Gearhart, Alyssa Hankey, TJ Simpson, Pat McGinnis, Brother Jack and others. The original Cre814 Festival took place prior to COVID-19 at downtown Altoona’s Heritage Plaza. For sponsor or vendor inquiries for the festival, email teamcre814@gmail.com.
