Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 29 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week was our annual Memorial Day tradition, the 3-hour “Backyard Rocker” Memorial Day Special. As always, we presented a trip down Local Music Memory Lane, breaking out music from bands that used to grace area stages, going as far back as the mid 70’s. Thanks to Todd Batzel, Michael Reich, Rich McGarvey and Homer’s Army for furnishing some of the recordings and footage aired on this year’s program. We also dug out some soundclips from local radio past (from a “Homegrown Spotlight” interview feature I used to do on another local AM station). During the program’s third hour, we commemorated some of the area musicians who are no longer with us.

This coming Sunday night, as we return to local music scene present, our guests in the studio will be western PA rockers Third Standard. Third Standard is set to release their second CD, “Karma Clean;” we will hear tracks from the CD and get thoughts from the band members about their music, live show and more. We will also update Local Music News, and review a new local/regional CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Third Standard returns to the “Backyard Rocker,” this Sunday night!

Check out “The Underground” as it features different unsigned local and regional bands every week; and watch for “Backyard Rocker” updates on the show each week as well!
