Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 24 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Our original scheduled guest was to be former local singer Crystal Cameron, who now is pursuing her music career in the Dallas, Texas area. But when we first booked Crystal’s appearance, she was getting set to release her new solo album, and had plans in the works to do an all-ages show in the Altoona area during late July. Unfortunately, the show plans fell through soon after the “Backyard Rocker” appearance was booked, and ultimately, delays have pushed back the release of Crystal’s CD as well. So we decided to postpone Crystal’s “Backyard Rocker” appearance til a later date.

But while this week’s show was without a guest, that did not mean it wasn’t a busy show. We instead got caught up on a large number of new recordings this week, and debuted new tunes from Vs. the Earth, The Lampshades, Blue Number Nine, Kairos, Mean Streak, The Mint, Blind Jonny Death, Anything Jane, Zelazowa, Ignarus, Astronaut Jones and Red Room. We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed Blind Jonny Death’s debut CD, “Git Down On The Farm,” in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review will be posted in the "Backyard Rocker" section on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com, later this week.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FLIGHT 19 – “3 Of a Kind”
WISKERBISKET – “Killer”
VS. THE EARTH – “Midsummer’s Nightmare”
THIRD STANDARD – “Enemy”
THE LAMPSHADES – “Never Really Sure”
THE APRIL SKIES – “Crutch”
BLUE NUMBER NINE – “Dig My Hands”
STERLING KOCH – “Good Bye Pork Pie Hat”
KAIROS – “Digging Through Sand”
THE GRIMM – “Fade”
MEAN STREAK – “Texas Makin Bake”

HOUR TWO:

CLOUD PARTY – “Tears In Rain”
THE MINT – “Back Of Our Friends”
BLIND JONNY DEATH – “Driver Blues”
ANYTHING JANE – “Novocain”
ZELAZOWA – “1,000 Smiles”
IGNARUS – “On To Something”
FLORD – “The Next Level”
ASTRONAUT JONES – “Great Escape”
MILKSHAKE JONES – “Between the Lines”
RED ROOM – “Between the Lines”

Next Sunday night, July 31, our guest in the studio will be Jim Speese, the singer, guitarist, songwriter and ringleader of the Reading-based rock band Cloud Party. Cloud Party has issued their new album, Praying For Rain; we will hear tracks from the CD, and get Jim's thoughts on the CD and Cloud Party's career to date. Jim Speese of Cloud Party returns to the "Backyard Rocker," next Sunday night!
