Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 6 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Originally, our scheduled guest was to be Meyersdale singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Reich; however, Michael informed us during the week that he is in Toronto, Ontario, in the midst of recording his brand new CD, and could not make it in to do the program. We’ve rescheduled Mike’s appearance for Feb. 26, and he will be bringing the new CD along that night to premiere for central PA.

In lieu of an in-studio guest, we instead spent this week’s show getting caught up on new local and regional CD releases. We debuted new tunes from the V.I.H. Blues Band, Gypsy & the Crazymoon, Nate Gates and Ted McCloskey. We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed the new Spoonchatter CD, Homespun. (The review can be read on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Backyard Rocker Rocks”
TONY MOLLICK PROJECT (T.M.P.) – “That’s All Right”
V.I.H. BLUES BAND – “Kiss the Blues Goodbye”
GYPSY & THE CRAZYMOON – “C’mon In My Kitchen”
NATE GATES – “Wide Awake and Dreaming”
MICHAEL REICH – “Wireless”
BLIND JONNY DEATH – “That Girl Is Hot”
THE MARAUDERS – “My Revolver”
TED Mc CLOSKEY – “Someone Took Away Your Microphone”

HOUR TWO:

KATSU – “Prison Break”
THE NIGHTCRAWLERS – “African Echo”
RACHEL ALLEN – “Almost There/Good Shepherd”
SPOONCHATTER – “11:00 PM”
HIEROSONIC – “Before Autumn”
FLORD – “The Next Level”
ANYTHING JANE – “Novocain”
WISKERBISKET – “Killer”
AMY K & THE LOVE STOMP SHOW – “Runaway”

Next Sunday night, Flord returns to the show to rock the house! We’ll hear tracks from Flord’s recently-released second album, “The Next Level,” and lucky listeners will have chances to win a copy! We’ll also get thoughts from the band on their new album, and learn the latest Flord happenings. Flord joins us in the studio, next Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker!”

In Local Music News…

Vs. The Earth has found their new drummer. Elliott Wiley will take over behind the kit, replacing Shawn Hocherl, who played his farewell show with the group last month at Altoona’s 4D’s Lounge.

Former area singer/musician Crystal Cameron has officially released her first solo album. The former lead singer of the area bands Sage and Fuse has released Crystallyzed through Dallas, Texas-based Fella-ship Productions. The album, which features a blend of contemporary Christian and modern pop sounds, has been receiving some good reviews since its release. Crystal will be returning to the Altoona area during the upcoming holiday season, and might be doing some shows and public appearances. We’ll keep you posted about any such shows here on the “Backyard Rocker.”

A number of new local and regional CD releases are being completed and will soon be released. Emily’s Toybox has completed their new album, Pill, and the album will be issued later this month.

Harrisburg’s Herbie has completed work on a new EP. The EP, entitled Hind, will be released shortly.

The State College-based band Mr. Hand is undergoing some personnel moves. Guitarist Greg Folsom is leaving the group, and will be replaced by his former Sona bandmate, Jeff Sabarese. Jeff will be reuniting with two other former Sona bandmates, singer/guitarist Brian Lubrecht and guitarist Alec Russo. Former Clove/He Said She Said member Brad Fisher plays bass, and former Velveeta drummer Matt Zelenz provides the beats.

The reformed Harrisburg-based heavy rock band Num has found their new singer. Christian Chappelle will be the group’s new frontman. Num is currently working on new song material, and will be announcing their official comeback shows soon.
