Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 12 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week we presented a two-part edition of the “Backyard Rocker.” For the first 90 minutes, we were joined in the studio by Spoonchatter, and got inside this group’s unique piano- and sax-powered blend of rock, pop, and jazz-flavored sounds. We discussed the band and their music, heard tracks from their latest CD, Homespun, and gave away a copy of the CD and a T-shirt. And Spoonchatter brought instruments and performed two songs live on the air.

We finished the show with a 45-minute tribute to area musician John Baker, who passed away on January 31 at age 44. We played music from throughout John’s career on area stages, including his early metal days with Poverty Boy, and more recent numbers from Super Fat Tuesday and his acoustic incarnations, including a duet with Joe Konior and songs with his girlfriend, Sherry Lender. We also included soundclips from his “Backyard Rocker” appearances, plus a special song John wrote and performed for yours truly, “The Professor,” during his last visit on the “Backyard Rocker on January 23 of last year. We also included information on the first of two special memorial benefit concerts for John, which will take place next Sunday, February 19, at Davey’s Lounge in Hastings. Proceeds from the concert will help with John’s funeral expenses; as he was uninsured and had no money to pay for his funeral.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

INFUSED – “Who Stole the Sun”
