Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 12 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to our in-studio guests, Mission Cricket Invasion, for an interesting and entertaining two hours. Originally from Huntingdon but now based in Baltimore; Derek, Eric and Matt discussed the group’s improvisational brand of punkish modern rock; and their unpredictable, free-wheeling live show. We heard tracks from the trio’s debut EP, “John Star Power,” and the group performed three unplugged songs for us live as well. Two lucky listeners won copies of the EP, and the listening audience was treated to one of the most unique entities you’ll find on regional stages.

In addition, we debuted new music from The Marauders, The Leroy Fix (from Chicago, they played a show in Altoona during the past week), Emily’s Toybox, Settle, Tall Trees, The Soundmen and Ivy’s Butterfly.

This Altoona-based fivesome taps rock’s roots with their sound, and we’ll hear their brand of all-original modern roots rock and rockabilly, as we spin tunes from their forthcoming new CD. We’ll learn more about this group, their passion for reinventing rock’s roots, and their career and goals. The Marauders, this coming Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker.”
