Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 17 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The “Backyard Rocker” is brought to you by the U.S. Army. Visit their website, www.goarmy.com, and call the Altoona Recruiting Station at (814) 944-2592.

Thanks to our guest, Bedford-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Jackson Monsour (www.myspace.com/jacksonmonsour), for an entertaining and insightful two hours! We got acquainted with Jackson, and got inside his career and music. We heard several songs from Jackson’s debut CD, Anywhere But Here, and several lucky listeners won autographed copies of the disc. Jackson also played three songs live on the air. In addition, we debuted new tunes from Good Brother Earl, Ledbetter Heights and Pivot, and reviewed Grantham Road’s latest album, Parade in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be viewed in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.) A good show!

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE CLARKS – “Better Off Without You” (live)
GOOD BROTHER EARL – “Fighting Gravity”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Willard’s Song”
V.I.H. BLUES BAND – “Kiss the Blues Goodbye”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Stay Away”
RUSTY GUN REVIVAL – “Smoke”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Big Fish” (performed live on the air)
LEDBETTER HEIGHTS – “Thru N Thru”

HOUR TWO:

PIVOT – “Redefine”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Nightmare”
GRANTHAM ROAD – “Stranger”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Wasteland” (performed live on the air)
BLUE NUMBER NINE – “Dig My Hands”
RHYNE McCORMICK – “5104”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Everybody Needs Love” (performed live on the air)
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Anywhere But Here”

Next Sunday night, our guests will be Clearfield-based Americana/roots music trio Rusty Gun Revival. Formerly known as Blind Jonny Death when they first visited the “Backyard Rocker” last year, Rusty Gun Revival has just issued their self-titled album. We’ll hear tunes from the album, and get the band members’ insight on their music and career to date. Rusty Gun Revival visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

SEPT. 24 – Rusty Gun Revival
OCT. 1 – John Charney (Rocky Horror preview)
OCT. 8 – Acoustic Jam Special 6
OCT. 15 – Blues and Roots Special
OCT. 29 – Halloween Special/Underground Television Season Kickoff Special
NOV. 19 – Good For Nothing
