Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 17 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

What a busy week! First, thanks to Fat Vinny for stopping by for his annual pre-holiday visit, updating us on his own world and that of his band, Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys. We played a variety of songs from throughout Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys’ career to date. We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed the new self-titled CD from The Marauders in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be viewed on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com.) We debuted new songs from Angel Blue & the Prophets, along with new Christmas songs from The Badlees and The Red Letter Band. We played several other local Christmas songs as well.

And we lamented the passing of two cherished members of the area music community during the past week. We kicked off the second hour of the show with a double-shot from Altoona’s Infused, in remembrance of the group’s drummer, Ed Longo. Ed lost his battle with cancer on Friday; he was 43. We also remembered an avid local music fan and Q94 listener, Steve Lockard, who was silenced by a heart attack on Tuesday at age 63. We at Q94 send our sincerest heartfelt condolences out to the families and friends of both men.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

DUSTIN BURLEY – “Broken Mirror”
JR MANGAN – “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch”
FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS – “Feet Up On The Dashboard”
ANGEL BLUE & THE PROPHETS – “Bottom of the Bottle Blues”
FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS – “Like A Mule”
THE BADLEES – “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”
FAT VINNY – “Political Science”

In Local Music News…

Half Tempted has found their new bass player to replace "Big Jim" Ricotta, who is leaving the band because of career reasons. Former Big Bang Theory bassist Paul Barsom will be taking over the position starting sometime in January.

News from the West Coast...Former Juiced lead singer Carrie Rapaport and the Los Angeles-based band Cakecutter have parted ways. Carrie cited personal differences as the reason for the departure, but indicated that she and the group are still on friendly terms. Carrie has not indicated what her next move will be as of yet, but said she is determined to keep moving forward with her music career ambitions.

A benefit concert to help out an area musician who is battling cancer will be taking place on New Year's weekend. The benefit for Opposition singer Mike "Iceman" Bryant will take place on Saturday, December 30th, at The Alley Popper in Houtzdale. The show will begin at 9 PM, and feature performances from five bands: Your Dying Wish, Camino Sky (formerly Anything Jane), Sour Diesel, The Opposition, and Condemned Existence.
