And Ron busts on me for using Opera as my browser....hehehehehhhh. With Opera, what's a popup? Opera has a beautiful little selection in the preferences tab where you can select "accept all popups", "accept only requested popups", or "accept no popups"!

I haven't seen a popup window in years. Twisted Evil

Same goes for the various flavors of Mozilla.

I use "Mozilla Firefox" (the latest incarnation of the name- formerly Phoenix, then Firebird, now Firefox). It's quite a bit zippier than Mozilla/Netscape 7, as it's just the browser itself, with the extra junk ripped out.

Opera? Mozilla? Don't tell me you guys are using Linux Mandrake also. Wink (I'm sorry, I feel like I'm the only guy in the world who's still faithful to Willy G and his empire of poorly programed apps with all of their security flaws)

I remember I once had this browser called Neoplanet. It was a very neat; you could change the skin/theme of it. It also seemed to handled java applets a lot better than the IE explorer I had at the time.

Hey Ron, I think this thread has been officially hijacked and should probaly be moved to the tech sector. *LOL*

Actually, I use Opera on a Windows XP system. I've never used Linux, but I am quite curious about it, read a couple books and it looks fascinating.

bassist_25, You can find Opera here: www.opera.com It's a free download, and has it's own built-in email client, along with all the neat features that IE has. There are a few websites that don't support Opera, but for the most part, it's very www-friendly. Microsoft's Active-X applets don't work on it, so some navigation at sites created for IE may get a bit hairy, but overall, it's the best browser I've ever used. It hogs FAR less memory than IE or Netscape, so there's no dropoff in CPU performance when multi-tasking. Great product, and you can't beat the price!

Kevin

Kevin, I'm definatley going to check out Opera. Just the fact that it requires less memory sounds great to me.

I have a copy of Linux Redhat. I've messed around with it a little bit, but I think there's something wrong with the disc because Lilo (Linux's default bootloader program) doesn't seem to be on it. I'm thinking about downloading Mandrake and trying it out on an old PII machine I have. I'm just wondering if I'll be able to get a Linux driver for it's modem. It has this ancient ISA modem. It's built like a tank though; it craps all over the V.92 in my main XP machine.
