Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 1 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. (Due to a scheduling glitch, this week’s show actually ran from 9 to 11 PM, but still ran in its entirety. Our computer's way of saying April Fool!)

It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally when we book a band for this show several months in advance, that group does not last long enough to be on the show. Although Opposition was active on area stages when we booked them to be on the “Backyard Rocker” late last year, the group is currently inactive and not playing out, so their appearance was cancelled for this week. Although Opposition wasn’t with us, their music was, and we played a couple of songs from the group.

In lieu of having a band guest this week, then, we devoted the show to introducing some new music that arrived at “Backyard Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. We debuted new songs from Kun-Tajus, The Silver Halos, My Turning Point, Panic Mode, Acalasia and House Of Cain. We also brushed the dust off of a late 80’s tune by Washed for a Local Music Flashback. It was maximum local and regional music this week on the “Rocker!”

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

VS. THE EARTH – “She Rocks Me”
THE FLAME SKY – “The Price You Pay”
OPPOSITION – “Finger Lickin’”
SILVER SUNDAY – “I Know”
HI-TYDE – “I Will Find a Way”
SHADES OF JUNE – “Reflection”
KUN-TAJUS – “Creature of the Night”
DIRTY DOGZ – “I Stand Alone”
TONY MOLLICK PROJECT – “Forget About Me”
KYX – “I Don’t Wanna See Your Back”
THE SILVER HALOS – “Fame”
SHERRI MULLEN – “Fearless”

HOUR TWO:

SPIRIT LOST – “Lost Soul”
LIES, INC. – “Hypnotic”
OPPOSITION – “Fallen Brothers”
MY TURNING POINT – “In Your Head”
PANIC MODE – “Blood on the Board”
WASHED – “I Need an Angel” (1987, Local Music Flashback)
ACALASIA – “So Much for the Railcar”
A UTOPIAN SKYLINE – “One Angel Said to Another”
HOUSE OF CAIN – “Sawed Off”
THE OVERTHROW – “Read Me”

Next Sunday night, we’ll go theatric when our guest in the studio will be Lori Howsare of State College-based Mad Muse Productions. Lori and Mad Muse have some productions coming up this spring involving music; we’ll get the lowdown and meet some of the musicians involved in the productions as well. We’ll also update Local Music News and review a new local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Lori Howsare and Mad Muse Productions on the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 15 – Flight 19 (tentative)
APR. 22 – Dubmissive
APR. 29 – Victory In Heaven Band
MAY 6 – The Overthrow
MAY 13 – Choking Faith
