Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 24 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), "Everybody's Hometown Team!"

With no guests scheduled, we spent this week's program checking out some new music that has arrived at "Backyard Rocker" headquarters during the past few weeks. We debuted new tunes from Hello Vixen, Dollarz-n-Sense, Codorus Cruise Line, Tangello Blue, Deja Vudoo, Chapter 5, Our Broken Silence and Caeser Pink & the Imperial Orgy. We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed the latest album from Harrisburg's Steel, Hammered. (The review can be viewed in the "Backyard Rocker" section of the Message Board area on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

WIDE OPEN - "Revin' It Up"
RIK GOLDEN - "Cresson Gutter Bums"
HELLO, VIXEN - "Grandpa's Medicine"
JACKSON MONSOUR - "Nightmares"
DOLLARZ-N-SENSE - "Southern Woman"
LIES, INC. - "Hypnotic"
CODORUS CRUISE LINE - "Life I Choose"
THE FLAME SKY - "The Price You Pay"
TANGELLO BLUE - "The Flood"
SHERRI MULLEN - "Asleep at the Wheel"

HOUR TWO:

KYX - "I Don't Wanna See Your Back"
LOWJACK - "Stand Up"
DEJA VUDOO - "Your God"
STEEL - "Black and Blue"
CHAPTER 5 - "Hollow Song"
THE OVERTHROW - "Pandora"
OUR BROKEN SILENCE - "Porcelain"
ACALASIA - "Contradictory"
CAESER PINK & THE IMPERIAL ORGY - "In Praise of Shadows"

Again, we have no guests scheduled for next Sunday, so we will again be providing maximum local and regional music on the program. We'll again update Local Music News, and may have a few other surprises in store as well. Again, maximum local and regional music on the "Backyard Rocker," next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

The "Backyard Rocker" is happy to announce its continued partnership with "The Underground TV," the local/regional music television show airing on WWPC Fox 8 Sunday and Monday mornings at 1 AM. Check out "The Underground" as it features different unsigned local and regional bands every week; and watch for "Backyard Rocker" updates on the show each week as well!

First, some more details regarding the special benefit event happening next weekend at Raystown to help out Scott Eckberg. Scott, who makes guitars, recently lost both his house and guitar shop to a fire; he was uninsured. A benefit bonfire and campout party to raise money for Scott will take place next Saturday and Sunday at Seven Points Amphitheater at Lake Raystown. There will be overnight camping, along with music from The Flame Sky, Blackseed and Sweetmeat. Camping reservations have to be made at Seven Points by calling 1-877-444-6777. Campers and their guests must RSVP to the email address hoedown.pa@gmail.com. Donations of money and practical living items for Scott will be accepted during the event.

The date for this year's 6th annual PA Singer Songwriter Festival has been announced. This year's event will take place on Saturday, August 18, at Brookpark Farm near Lewisburg, the same site as last year's event. Performers confirmed to take part in this year's Festival include past favorites from the event such as Hannah Bingman and New York's Denise Barbarita; as well as John Micek and Milkshake Jones from Harrisburg, Carla Ulbrich, Alicia Keister, Jesse Rubin, John Sonntag and Mycenea Worley. For more information, visit the website www.singersongwriter.ws/festival.

In band personnel moves, former "Backyard Rocker" guest, composer and former Ask A Stranger guitarist Dave Buzard has joined the blues rock group Kee Kee Anderson. The group also features Altoona's Mark Panek on drums. Kee Kee Anderson will be playing a free show, opening for a fireworks display next Saturday night at Gumtown Park in New Bethlehem.

Lies, Inc. has announced that they are fully back in action. Not only is drummer Ron Brode recovered from his back surgery from earlier this year, but singer J.D. Hicks has returned to the fold after leaving the group last winter. Lies, Inc, will make their official return to live stage action July 28 at Aldo's.
