Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 15 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.7 and WBXQ 94.3. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”

Thanks to our guests this week, Hollidaysburg punk rockers The Scraps (www.myspace.com/thescrapshateyou). We met all three band members and learned The Scraps’ story to date; and we heard songs from The Scraps’ forthcoming new CD, Therapy for Retards, which comes out next month. We heard brand new songs from Hello Vixen, Vs. the Earth and Signal Lost; we dug into the local music archives to feature a 1997 song by Tukker for a “Local Music Flashback;” and we reviewed Chapter 5’s new CD, A Great Day to Die, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be viewed in the "Backyard Rocker" section of the Message Board area on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

SOLEGION – “Solitary Prayer”
THE SILVER HALOS – “Fame”
THE SCRAPS – “Wasted”
HELLO, VIXEN – “The Thrill of the Chase”
THE SCRAPS – “You’re the Only One”
THE MARAUDERS – “Rumble on the Rocks”
THE SCRAPS – “Then I Kissed Her”
9 PLANET TOUR – “You Got It”
VS. THE EARTH – “Story of My Life”
SPITSHINE – “I Don’t Want You”

HOUR TWO:

BACKSTREET LAW (TIL DECEMBER) – “Frustrated”
SIGNAL LOST – “Heresy”
THE SCRAPS – “Sodomizer/8th Street”
CHAPTER 5 – “Buried”
THE SCRAPS – “Number One”
TUKKER – “Kalico” (1997, Local Music Flashback)
THE SCRAPS – “Shootin’ Up in the Parking Lot”
RIK GOLDEN – “The Gig Is Up”
THE SCRAPS – “I Hate You”

Next Sunday night, our guests in the studio will be local hard rockers My Turning Point. Formed by former Stept On/Blue Skye Mourning drummer Jim Bagrosky, My Turning Point finds Jim stepping from behind the drum kit to sing and play guitar. We’ll hear tracks from the group’s recently issued debut CD, Seclusion Serves Me Well, and get insight on the songs and music from Jim and the rest of the group. My Turning Point visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

JULY 29 – Last Chance

AUG. 12 – Jackson Monsour
AUG. 26 – Ron Carnevali (Johnstown Folkfest preview)
