Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 11 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to Altoona's Infused for being our guests this week. Singer/guitarist Shawn Huss, lead guitarist Rod Skelley, bassist Bill Fischer and drummer Ed Longo discussed their eclectic brand of soaring, layered rock; as we heard tracks from their 4-song EP, and several lucky listeners won copies as well. We also heard two live concert tracks from the band, and heard their thoughts on their live show, goals and more. Along the way, we flashed back to 1996 to hear the title song from Shawn's and Rod's previous band, Upstream. We also checked local music news, and on “The Professor's CD Corner,” we reviewed and featured a song from Suture Seven's self-titled album. It was a busy week!

This week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES - “Issues”
SHERRI MULLEN - “Broken”
INFUSED - “Defused”
THIRD STANDARD - “One More Time”
INFUSED - “A Reflection of You”
GYPSY & THE CRAZYMOON - “Chain of Fools”
INFUSED - “Silence of the Rain”
DEVIANCE - “Save Me”

HOUR TWO:

JUICED - “Seven”
NEVERMOURE (VS. THE EARTH) - “She Rocks Me”
INFUSED - “Who Stole the Sun”
SUTURE SEVEN - “Wither”
INFUSED - “Don't Shoot Any More”
UPSTREAM - “Upstream” (1996, Local Music Flashback)
INFUSED - “Within”

This Sunday night, our guests will be Johnstown heavy rockers Deviance. Deviance will soon release their full-length debut CD, “Contagion.” We will hear songs from the album, and learn what's new with the band members. We will also speak with Dennie Huber, the organizer/emcee of the 14th annual “Crazy Fest” Amateur Talent Show, which takes place Sunday afternoon, April 25th at the Greenwood Firehall. Deviance and Dennie Huber on the “Backyard Rocker,” this Sunday night!

In local music news this week:

Stept On is set to officially release their new 5-song EP. “The Philadelphia Experiment” was recorded at Metropolitan Studios in Philadelphia, and produced by G Love & Special Sauce producer Walt Bass. Stept On has scheduled several CD-release events in our area. For the listing of shows, visit www.stepton.com.

A scary moment for Harrisburg area rock band The Underwater. This past Monday, en route to Kansas after a performance in Detroit, the group rolled their van after the driver fell asleep at the wheel near Iowa City, Iowa. None of the band members was seriously hurt. Their van and trailer were totaled, but their gear was not broken. The group cancelled the remaining shows on this particular tour, but plan to attempt another midwestern tour in late summer.

Former Ask A Stranger guitarist Dave Buzard is back in action with a new project, called Project Twelve. In this new solo venture, Dave is doing dark gothic and techno-geared music. Dave will be releasing a debut album from Project Twelve in May. The album is entitled Small Eternity.

And the Harrisburg-based rock band Drives Like Fire has announced that they are disbanding, so the band members can pursue other interests. The group will play their final show on April 24.
