Realistically the Beatles are the most influential band in history and changed the face of music over 40 years ago and their stuff still holds up all this time later. Bands are still ripping them off to this day. I actually got to meet Pete Best this summer and he was telling stories of the early days in Liverpool and Germany which was very cool to hear first hand. They are just as relevant today and have been broken up for close to 40 years. Lets jump ahead 40 years and see what band today will still be relevant. My guess would be none of them.
Paul

Agreed. It was John's birthday yesterday...I've never known, or at least remembered, any of the other Beatles' birthdays. Embarassed

I really should check this part of the site more often! I can't say I have a favorite beatle, it's the group as a whole that knocks me out. When the solo albums began to be released I liked almost everything Lennon and Harrison did, but didn't care much for Paul's. There were always a gem or two on Paul's but he was so freakin' inconsistent. I hated the happy pop, and really syrupy ballads. John and George just gave us what they felt while Paul always had an eye towards record sales and radio play.

And dear Ringo! If there was one Beatle I would love to sit down and have a cup of tea with it would be him. He quit the band at one point feeling that the boys didn't really need him, and feeling frustrated over the back biting the other three were increasingly doing. It took only a few days in the studio with Paul playing drums that they realized how important Ringo really was and immediately begged him to return. He left Peter Sellers' yacht and rejoined the band thankfully.

Well, after all that, I guess my fav Beatle is Ringo.

I'll take "It don't come easy" and "Photograph" by Ringo anyday over "Silly love songs" or "Say say say" by Paul....total crap IMO. You go drummer boy!
