As our bro of nearly six years, Paul "Future Bobby" Rainey has been furthering his education and pursuing his career goals while being a key component to bad daZe. Now, life takes him on a new part of the journey. Soon, Paul will relocate out of state to accept a job in his field. While we hate to see him go, we`re all proud of him and his academic accomplishments and wish him nothing but success in his chosen path.

That being said, bad daZe is opening auditions to any and all interested bass players looking for an established regular gig. Currently, we gig an average of 7-8 times a month. Playlist ranges from 80s rock to current rock. Kenny, Jim and myself are in it for the long haul and have worked hard over the years to establish good ties with fellow musicians, live music fans and regional club owners and staff members alike.

Interested parties text me at 814-599-9630. Thanks.

Good luck, Paul, from your bros at Camp bad daZe. Once a member, always a member.

Wow, I'm happy for FutureBobby but sad to see him go! Bassists, this is an absolutely prime gig, so what are you waiting for?? Get ahold of Rob and set up that audition. Top notch band, top notch people. Even Kenny. Wink

Ya, best of luck to Paul and to the rest of the guys in Bad Daze. Sure you guys will find someone quick. Still stinks, though. Stupid day job careers.

Best wishes to ya, Paul, although you're dismissing my advice to stay in school for the rest of your life. Student loan deferrals....yeah man, that's where it's at!

"Stay in school as looooonnnngggg as you can!!!"

Kent is always full of good advice. There's nothing but routine misery in the working world!

Joking aside, it's a shame central PA is losing one of it's top bassists. And it's a shame one of our most popular bands has to search the masses to fill those shoes. Good luck to all, and Paul, I'm afraid of what will happen to you when you get those big paychecks! You're gonna have every Carvin bass and Aguilar rig ever made! Promise you'll keep us posted on new gear acquisitions and come back for the occasional get together!

Thanks for all of the cool replies. I'm definitely looking forward to what this adventure brings me, both in the day gig career and in music. I'm not going to be playing for a while. My equipment is going to be sitting at my father's for about the next six months. Dan, I was seriously considering picking up another Carvin, either one of the new SB5000s or a Maple-topped Icon to match my Walnut-topped Icon, but I didn't want to buy a new bass and not play it for a while. I also considered your Lado. Razz

Also, my plan is to eventually get a Ph.D., so I do plan to return to school after I'm conferred my Master's, even if it's on a part-time basis.

Anyways, any players interested can hit me up for a list of material that the band is currently doing, complete with keys and backing vocals that I do.

A little more about the bass position:

old sKool generally uses four guitars per gig: one tuned to standard 440, one tuned for drop-d, one tuned for drop C#, and one tuned standard, a whole-step down to D. Therefore, it would probably be wise having two basses, one setup for standard 440 and D, and one set up for C#. I always used five-strings for this gig.

The band almost always has full FOH PA support and production, and we've always been conservative with stage volume. You don't need to lug an Ampeg fridge and a rack with a 2000 watt PA power amp in order to just be heard. Kenny has one of the best guitar tones around, and Jim's drum sound is slamming. You won't be fighting for freqencies on stage or getting into volume wars.

Gigs are booked to maximize profit. That's not to say that the band doesn't work with club owners on rough nights or that the band doesn't lower its price a little to get its foot in the door at a new venue. However, you won't be beating your head against the wall making $40 everytime you play a certain venue. Also, other than production expenses, the band doesn't "pay to play." You will never be asked to sell tickets for some promoter.

Areas the band currently play are Altoona, Northern Cambria and Hastings, Johnstown, Osceola Mills, Clearfield, Mount Union, Indiana and surrounding areas (i.e., Jacksonville, Marion Center), and Clymer area.

Alright, again if anyone wants a list of material, hit me up.

Bobby (aka Paul to those who don't know the Bobby reference) I feel as though the Grinch has stole Christmas but when I put my selfishness aside congrats on your next step. You've worked very hard and deserve it dude. I debated if we should also list a fedora as required gear ha, ha!!! And Kevin, thanks...I think ha, ha! Give 'em hell Bobby!!!

It's both a sad day to see you go Paul but in the same moment a happy one knowing you have landed a decent job in these times. It is a pleasure to know you and to have shared the stage with a great musician and human being. Good luck in your future endeavors and I hope to see you before you move to ?.
