Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 15 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

Yet more new local and regional recordings arrived in recent days, so we spotlighted more new music on this week's program! Receiving their first "Homegrown Rocker" airplay were new tunes from The Roof, Rodger Delany, Van Wagner, Ted McCloskey, The Arts, Charlie Barath, JS Blues, August Winters, The Heathen Parade and Hate Grenade! In addition, we remembered the late Brian Stotler (see "In Local Music News" below) with a 2006 tune from Brian and FedUp for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and broke out a 1999 number from The Gathering Field for a second "Flashback." We also updated "Local Music News," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Colorado's Austin Taft, and reviewed Marshmellow Overcoat's Jumping Sharks album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 081521.)

Here is this week's playlist:

THE GATHERING FIELD - "Right Where You Want Me" (1999, Local Music Flashback)

BLOOD UNION - "Suffocate"
JS BLUES - "Customer Service Blues"
MARSHMELLOW OVERCOAT - "The Best Thing"
AUGUST WINTERS - "MMXX"

AUSTIN TAFT - "Skeletons" (Across State Lines)
SAMARA - "Reclaim"
THE HEATHEN PARADE - "Dead Heat (for Dead Last)"
HATE GRENADE - "Hollywood"

Next week we will have guests on the program, as Drew Zimmerman will join us to discuss his musical project August Winters, and the upcoming new August Winters album, The Lion The Reaper, which hits the streets on August 27! We'll play some tunes from the album, plus Drew will bring a guitar and do a couple of songs live! We'll also chat via phone with Joe Trojcak of Progressive Enterprises recording studio, where the album was recorded! In addition, we will dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and review Suicide Puppets' Tales of Living and Dying on Slaughter Ridge Road album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (August 22) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com!

In Local Music News…

Area musician Patrick McGinnis is back home after completing his coast-to-coast “Salt to Salt” cross-country bicycling journey. Starting near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in late May, Pat bicycled his way through California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Virginia, arriving at Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Ocean on August 2. According to Pat, new songs and a possible album inspired by his adventures may be forthcoming.

And the area music scene was saddened by the unexpected passing of Brian Stotler on August 6. He was 43. Brian was active in the Altoona area punk, hardcore and metal scene over the past two decades, and had fronted such bands as FedUp, Revolutionary Front, Dysfunktion and others. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his parents, wife and two children.
