Nancy Wilson's amp heads?

Post by lonewolf »

I just saw Heart on TV, sounding as good as ever. Nancy Wilson had a pair of Orange 4-12 cabs side by side, but I couldn't make out the 3 little amp heads that were on them. They definitely weren't Orange.

Does anybody know what brand these amps are?

The green emblems would suggest Trace Elliot. Even though Trace is a big name in bass amplification, they have built guitar amps - the same way that Ampeg is big on bass amplification but have also built (some really sweet-sounding) guitar stuff.

I'm not saying they're Traces, but that's what the logo kind of looks like to me.

Yep, you are right Paul. They look like acoustic guitar amps? Wonder what that's all about? The Trace Elliot website won't come up today.

It looks like they are model TA100R. I think they are geared toward acoustic instruments.

Apparently, she uses them as acoustic guitar monitors onstage. Wonder what she uses for electric?

Maybe those are combo amps? Orange makes combos with the controls on top and recessed, like some Fenders.

Does Trace Elliot still make electric guitar amps under their own name? I thought they were making stuff for Gibson these days.

Apparently, they are with Peavey now, but their link doesn't work.

Orange does make some combo amps, but no 4x12s that I'm aware of

Interesting, check out the name plate on this TA100R, "Trace Acoustic".
