I think that other than the new Yngwie Malmsteen Reliced' Ducky Strat, this is the best one yet.
It's times like these that I hate being a lefty, cause Gilmour is one of my fav's and has possibly the purest tone known to man.
I love this guitar!

HUGE Gilmour fan. His 001 strat is awesome:

My favourite that I've seen him use.

This to be the next project?

Who? Me?

Well that depends really, cause I can't compete with a Team of Professionals like the Fender CS, but if the price is extremely high, like most everything else that has come to market lately, then I may build a right handed one for somebody if they want one, but it won't be an authenic Fender,so "you didn't buy it from me!"

I have been thinking about doing one for myself anyway.
God, look at me, I'm starting to cross over to the dark side of the moon with all you Fender guys!

LOL. I actually had a MIM Strat a few yrs ago and I really dug it. It would sound like Donkey Kong with a thong wedged in his ass in The Embalmed but they have a wonderful tone for alot of other things.

The dark side is only for those who choose to ignore the light.

I ordered a Jackson DK2, and my Charvel is also Strat shaped, so I guess I have to get used to them sooner than expected.
I've had many 'S' shaped guitars, but always got rid of them.

And sorry MJB, but I don't think that I could EVER own a stock Strat!!
It has to be modded for sure. That's why I went w/ a Charvel neck on my JEL strat, and not a Fender neck, cause I love the feel of a J/C neck.
V's will always be my main axe
Nice try my man

I love the look of the Gilmour Strat, but I'd probably do a Charvel neck mod on that also!

Did you guys see that he actually had a Charvel neck on his Strat in the early 80's
Actually his Strat was a guinnea pig for his mods and ideas.
It had about 5 different necks on it, and 2 or 3 different bridges, different pickguards, and pickups.

His Black Strat is a beauty, and it's an iconic guitar full of soul. Too bad Gilmour's skills don't come in a box w/ that guitar.

Just found some prices for this beast:

NOS Black Strat - $3999.00
Relic'd Black Strat - $4799.00

I was thinking much higher, but this is still out of most of the players and fans reach.
It is a piece of artwork and that in itself is priceless.

Yeah, I just saw the prices on this as well. I thought it would be higher. It's still out of my price range, but not as high as I thought it would be.

I'd love to have a Strat like this. 8)

Yeah I think that Fender pretty much has everyone covered as far as signatures and reissues:
Clapton
Guy
Beck
Malmsteen
Van Halen (Charvel)
Hendrix
SRV
Johnson

And probably a few more that I forgot, but the one that I'm eagerly waiting for is the Dave Murray Strat.
Murray has been an avid Strat since atleast 1980 and probably before that, so he's put his time in endorsing the company, time to pay their respects!!

I'm sure it would sell enough for them to break even also.
The Strat I liked was the Black with White pickguard, Maple neck, and (2) Cream DiMarzio Super D's in it from the Powerslave era.
I also like his Olympic White Strats of that era.

Fender made an 'Iron Maiden" strat in early 2000 but it wasn't nothing fancy and it didnt have accurate specs.
I think if I build another Strat it will be a Murray.

Do you guys think Fender should build a Murray Sig. Strat?

Why not just take a cheap strat body out and blast it from 30 yards with some buckshot? That ought to make a nice finish.
