My Engl preamp has a stereo mode, but I'm running a straight mono signal throughout the rig. That was an excellent catch Ron, I totally forgot that in order to take advantage of true stereo mode, the rest of the rig should be wired as such.
That's also a good idea to run a small monitor off of the #2 speaker out.
I think you've got it. You should be fine running 150w rated speakers with 100w. Especially since it's tube power, when tubes clip they don't produce a hard edge like solid state amps do, so they are easier on the speaker drivers.
Another word of advice... never run either channel of your Marshall into less than an 8 ohm load. That's why some people can still manage to destroy a tank like that.

That's one reason that I fell in love and kept this Marshall, it is so versatile, and like Lonewolf pointed out, it is indeed a MonoBloc system, which means that it is essentially 2 amps in 1: Side A and Side B.
Each side has a Gain knob,a Presence knob, and a toggle switch that's marked 'A/B' to chance the voicing of the tubes.
-Toggle flipped to 'A' is more mellow,with less Gain, and almost like it's running on 2 out of the 4 powertubes. (Not sure exactly how the sound changes, that's just my perception of it)
-Toggle on 'B' is full on assault!, there's a dramatic volume and gain difference between A&B.
Each side has this A&B toggle, not to confuse it with literally switching between Side A and Side B.
Eventually, I will have my Side B retubed with another brand of tubes, for a different flavor or sound. So you guys can see the tonal options that i have.
+ if one side goes down while playing out, all I have to do is plug it all into Side B and I'm up and running again.
And now I'm learning more about the mono/stereo and splitting the cabs and whatnot, there's more to this than I even realized.
I think it's between 65-70 pounds by itself.
Used to have it in a 10 space rack with all 10 spaces used up, but it weighed almost as much as me, I'm about 150 soaking wet
