What would be your dream job?

If you could choose any career path and jump right into it with all of the schooling paid for and all of the tools needed to do your job what would it be?

There's a few dream jobs for me and I'm going to name just a few of them, but they are all related to the same type of field.....

I'd absolutely love to go to Luthier school, or study under Tim Wilson,Mike Shannon, and Mike Learn (the builders and painters) from Jackson/Charvel and have my own luthier shop.

Next up from that would be:
To own and operate my own Guitar Company where I could apply my knowledge and ideas toward fresh and hopefully innovative designs. I have so many great ideas for guitars and basses, but no means to build them and sell them....

And lastly if none of them were viable, I'd settle to simply work at Jackson/Charvel as a builder/painter...

I'd also love to work there as a marketing and designer for new products.
There's so much that J/C could do to improve their guitar line and many options that the customers want that they areny providing, and I'd love to bring a players/customers perspective to the table.

A guitar tech for Tony Iommi would be a sweet gig as well, and I'm a lefty too..

For me, it's not really all about the money (to an extent). I'm not looking to get rich, but only to be content with my job and pay my bills with some left over to enjoy life.

I would love to be a Chef or a commercial food artist. I would also like to be a writer, either of biographies or fictional novels.

Nice! I wanted to be a writer when I was in High School, and I used to write short stories alot.

If I could go back and do it all over I would become a marine biologist and start off working at Sea World with Shamu!! I know, sounds corny, but I would love to work with animals rather than people!!

The worst part about that is that everything tastes good after 3 beers, so the beer thereafter would serve no purpose other than to make me completely shitfaced. Most people would probably stamp their seal of approval on dog piss after 4 or 5.

I think as of right now that I am kinda doing my dream job. After being in sales so damn long, i'm doing a job now that is rewarding to me. I deliver medical supplies for Penn Home Medical. It feels good to be able to deliver things to people that they need, instead of selling them bullshit that they dont need.

Many Kings X tunes have multiple guitar parts. Hell, I'd stay backstage providing those extra parts! Maybe tour for a year, come back here, get picked up by the Steelers as the slowest wide receiver in Steelers history, win the Super Bowl on Sunday and then back to the music store on Monday!

I have a few. In no particular order...

-Pro Football Player. Hell, if I could sign a league minimum contract over 10 years, I'd retire a multi-millionaire.

-Master Woodworker. I'd love to have my own shop like the one that Norm Abram has on "New Yankee Workshop". It would be awesome to create pieces like that from wood.

-Executive. It would be nice to tell people what to do at work for a change, LOL.

-Associate at Dale's Drum Shop. 'Nuff said.

Second, an artist (I do web, poster design and fashion illustration)
Third, an architect (I design earthwork for DEP)

I guess I'm not that far off all of them, just not to the level I'd like. If I were I'd be Etta James, Roger Dean and Frank Gehry.

For me, no question about it. I want to be a professional poker player at some point in my life. But for now, my life is in PA and regular visits to casino's are not really an option.

Sure, there's a few big games in town that I go to - but the thing about underground poker is that most of the regulars are also pretty solid players. Casino's really do bring in the fishes from the general public... And to make enough money to survive on poker alone, you need to eat new fishes each day...

River guide. Bass, muskie, whatever. Put me on a boat, point me downstream, and I'm the happiest guy you ever met.

Columnist. I'd love a job where you type 8 or 10 paragraphs, and you're done for the day. Obviously, I can do that in 8 or 10 minutes, on practically any subject.

Touring bluegrass picker. It's not like touring in a rock band. There's very little press to do, and you're seldom the only band on the bill, so there's lots of camaraderie. Bluegrass is one of a very few genres where you can not only shake your heroes' hands, but actually hang out and get to know them. It's very accessible. Plus, you can have your stage-gear set up in about a minute (Remove instrument from case. Tune. Step up to microphone. Play.). I wish everyone of you could go to a bluegrass festival just to enjoy the vibe.

Videographer. I have no experience per se, but I think I'd be pretty good at it, especially nature or sportsman video.------->JMS
