Mmm? I don't get it...

The goverment gives AIG a tractor and trailer load of money. Caught them in the act of miss using it. THEN gives them more.... But yet, when GM, Ford and Chrysler need help. There will be massive lay offs and all kinds of other lost jobs and income because of it... The goverment tells them to "suck it up."

Am I missing something here??? Or maybe I'm just .... stupid??? :P

They are gonna be deeper in the hole when Obama ups the taxes. Anyway, when was it the governments responsibility to bail everyone out that is in trouble? What are we, fucking China?

I agree with you "RTD" about the bailout thing. I guess the question I was getting at was. What makes one better than the other? And when you give to one. Then you caught them miss using it, why give more and look the other way?? And be a total ass to the people that do ask.

Why just to a "select" few?? (I don't mean give it out all "willy-nilly" either. )

Who's related to who, at AIG??

Who did GM, Ford and Chrysler piss off??

There's a snake in the wood pile. But we all knew that....

It's like bailing water on the starboard side, while drilling holes in the hull.Iwas wondering ,last night on 60min Barry said he was gonna help people who couldn't make their mortage...in other words....people who had no business getting loans through banks that were pressured into, and had no business giving these people loans.Case and point. If you earn 25Gs a year you have no frickin business buying a house for 350Gs.They gave most of these loans to people with zero credit who had never owned homes before.Who's fault is it?I pay my mortage every month.Maybe i should STOP.I'm betting Barry's plan won't do shit for me,i've never been on welfare, never lived in assisted housing, and i've ALWAYS had a job.Don't get me wrong,i'm not whinning about the election, fuck McCain was never my man anyhow.Maybe Pres elect Barry can build a utopia of sprawling PROJECTS for all those misplaced people who forgot to do the math when they signed their name 124 times on those mortage Apps.
Bitter and clinging.

The auto industry can restructure itself better if it files for bankruptcy. Also, it is the unions that cause gm to be where they are. They pay so much for their employee benefit that it cost $1,000.00 per car to cover it ...

One of the reason that that other companies, like toyota, are doing better financially is because they don't have expensive union mandates like gm does.

Right on. Once upon a time, unions were formed to keep things safe and fair at work, but they got greedy and dirty. Detroit's labor force basically priced itself out of a job, and the Japanese companies filled in the empty space in the market. I say let the chips fall. When this recession's over, somebody's going to make lots of money making nextgen cars. The obvious direction for the next big thing in the auto industry is alternative energy, it seems to be all anyone's talking about. I'm kinda anxious to see how it all pans out. I figure the technology involved in automotives is going to take a huge leap in the near future. Many of us can remember when gasoline had lead in it, and seatbelts were an optional accessory when you bought a car. We've seen a real evolution, I want to see what the next step will be.------->JMS

Amen brother! But remember part of the reason your boy is in there is due to the union strong hold.Ever heard of the "job banks"?I say fuck'em let them go belly up and boot the unions out.No business can remain competitive paying $49 bones an hour AND full bens to have dudes sit in a room for 8hrs a day because there's no work and the union stands in the way of downsizing to save the entire company. This coupled with the fact that we're competing with slave labor.Just a thought.

That's exactly it. They priced themselves out of a job. --->JMS

"NextGen Cars", "Alternative Energy"..... Car makers have had that kinda tech for many, many, many years... The Gov. wouldn't/will not let them bring it out.

Then let AIG fail!!!! Why give them cash and watch them piss it away. Then give them more???? Which high up Gov person has stock/investments or reatives that work at AIG. Or maybe there's a skeleton in the closet that AIG will let old about someone?? "Who wear girly shorts" or "Which bosses are getting BJ's in the conference room by who's wife??"

But, does it really matter?? It's all going to shit in a hand basket anyway. And we will all have barcodes and jumpsuits soon. Stand in line to get a meal... No matter who's in power.
