You better not ask a question of our president-elect. The whole weight of government will descend down on your head.
I guess privacy and liberty are not a part of change and hope.

I guess you don't mind that he's a grandstanding piece of sh*t who got pwned by his own tactics. He's got a Nashville agent. He's got a book deal. He started a "foundation." Regular Joe, my fuzzy pink ass.undercoverjoe wrote:You better not ask a question of our president-elect. The whole weight of government will descend down on your head.

If you're going to question someone on taxes in front of the world media, you should probably actually PAY YOUR OWN TAXES first. Let's hope he doesn't pontificate about healthcare, he doesn't pay his hospital bills either (see same article).
I see you took your sour grapes about the election, and made whiiiiine. Stay the course, my friend. It's what got the Republican party where it is today.

If Johnny worked for some governmental agency in Ohio, he would have probably done the same thing. Fuck those Constitutional rights to privacy, he dared to ask the Messiah a question, how dare him. John, would you have liked it if all your records were exposed to the world because you dared to ask W a question?
You find it OK only because Joe the Plumber was a Republican, so fuck his rights, and Obama is the liberal Messiah, so anything government could to to destroy him is alright by you liberals.

I could really give a shit less whether Joe (the plumber, not undercover) is a grandstanding P.O.S., a Republican, a Democrat, or whatever. I also don't care who is in office. This is the type of shit that is ruining the U.S.A. Our civil liberties are being trampled in record number, and both sides are guilty. The incrementalist tactics of the past are giving sway to outright bullying by the govt. This crap makes me very very angry. If Jefferson were alive he'd be throwing molitov cocktails at the steps of the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court. When is it going to stop? If his track record speaks for anything, I don't have much hope that the President-elect will be any better.
BTW, the 16th amendment was never properly ratified and there are no actual statutes plainly mandating that any private person has to pay income tax (corporations are a slightly different story). I'm a pussy so I still pay my taxes, but I wish more people would protest the unlawful fleecing of the taxpayers (which is essentially at gunpoint). I know, I'm a radical nutjob.

Citizen rights are being trampled, and you call it whining? Have you totally given up your freedom and liberty? Any of us should be free to question any politician without fear of retribution, but that is not how it is anymore. We need a revolution. We need the America of freedom and liberty (and liberty means your right to privacy). That is my course.songsmith wrote: I see you took your sour grapes about the election, and made whiiiiine. Don't you all know? These kinds of privacy invasions are OK.
The only things that really need our protection are out-of-country long distance phone calls to suspected terrorists. You know...that stuff we all do every day. If we don't protect out-of-country long-distance phone calls, the Republic will surely fall.
Warning! Sarcasm Alert!

I agree with the above statement 110%. I saw a headline the other day (online) which stated, basically, Obama will reverse much of what Dubya did. I am hoping that includes what is called the Patriot Act/signing statements and executive orders, but I will believe it all when I see it.
HOWEVER, keep in mind the plumber man was investigated by GOVERNMENT agencies. What political party still controlled said agencies and attempted to utilize him for their benefit??? My first thought when I saw the thread, was the McCain/Palin peeps most likely had him thoroughly checked out before he was allowed any proximity to them...but I could be wrong.

Well, I guess if you are a lying piece of shit then you better keep your head down. If I get on the news or do a Joe the plumber then you better believe I might want to be legit. This guy is an idiot.
Sorry he is a stupid fuck, he will end up really screwed because he is a lying piece of dung, not because he asked a question. Many people asked questions but they weren't such obvious screwballs. The fact that the RNC used him just goes to show that we just saw the worst campaign ever....
Duh!
As far as a revolution goes well I'll be! No! Never heard that one before!
Problem is we are all to comfy to give it up for the future!
We will all whine about it but who wants to sleep under the star and go on the lamb to begin finding and funding a new revolution?
Any one? Not me.....

was it jefferson that said "those willing to give up freedom for temporary safety deserve neither freedom nor safety" ??
i agree with lonewolf. these kind of privacy invasions are ok. the founding fathers were fine with their tax on tea, also. i, for one, love the patriot act so much. i think my favorite part is the part that says any government agency has the right to search your residence without a warrant. jefferson, washington, franklin.... they've been turning in their graves since '01.

So
So in 1776 when War broke out between the colonies and the British soldiers you know it was primarily caused by taxation?
Do we refer to Paul Revere as a "Terrorist"? How about George Washington?
No we don't. Although I am sure that at the time the British government did.
Just an observation.
And once more for the hell of it,
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

Dubya and his boys have access to ANY data they want, including my elementary-school grades. If you think they wouldn't use that against me, I'd remind you of a little incident where they outed a CIA agent because of a newspaper article.
In addition, I pay my taxes, even on band income. You all should as well. It's patriotic.

Joe the Plumber, on the other hand, skipped his taxes, and neglected to get a Joe the Plumber's license. He's the political equivalent of Paris Hilton... someone whose only talent seems to be standing in the general proximity of a camera. He's never uttered a word in the press that didn't directly involve or benefit Joe the Plumber. He'll never run with the big dogs... He's about as effective as a girl-fart in a hurricane.--->JMS
Can you guarantee that nobody in the Dubya-Reich would ever dare overstep their authority? Surely, no President would ever do anything related to a witchhunt! (Well, there was McCarthyism. And J. Edgar Hoover's dossiers on everyone whose hair reached past their collars. And Nixon's secret Oval Office tapes. And Watergate and Iran-Contra, those were pretty sneaky. You get the pattern.) Valerie Plame could tell you more about sh*tty political tactics, I'm sure.------->JMSlonewolf wrote:Don't you all know? These kinds of privacy invasions are OK.

John, why do you frame everything as in terms of W and Republicans are bad and Obama and his gang is good. They are sure to clean this up. Sure they will.songsmith wrote:undercoverjoe wrote: John, would you have liked it if all your records were exposed to the world because you dared to ask W a question?

Why didn't you mention that a Democrat Clinton had the IRS tax dossiers on every Republican in DC? That is a felonious act. You always list all the evils of any republicans but ALWAYS forget to mention what democrats have done. Even Kennedy had Martin Luther King under FBI investigation.
Both R's and D's abuse their power when they get it.
As ordinary citizens we have to fight the tyranny of Big Brother Government, no matter who happens to be the wielder of the power.
We should all be alarmed that 6 governmental agencies used their powers to shred the privacy and liberty of Joe the plumber, whether you liked his politics or not.
Re: 6 Gov't agencies investigated "Joe the Plumber"
Actually, I seldom write anything positive about Obama. I just don't let anyone forget how righteous the far right was after 9/11 and during the run-up to the 2004 election. I also enjoy pointing out how the Bush Administration messed up, because it happened so often, and so spectacularly. Also, I think taking us into the Iraq War was just completely wrong, and remains as such.undercoverjoe wrote:

I don't like it when the little guy gets boned by the rich guy.
Those are pretty much my stock issues. Anything else is just me volleying back.
Whatever the case, America voted, and Republicans can snipe all they want... Obama was voted President by the American people. Lots of people voted for him simply because he's not Bush, and they also gave Congress to the Dems for the same reason. Everybody noticed they were worse off than before W. took office, and why.
You kinda hafta get used to it, Joe. I tend to vote Republican locally, but the national party is getting the ass-whipping they deserve. --->JMS
