Christmas rock

Post by witchhunt »

I just dug out my Twisted Sister and Jethro Tull Christmas cd's. I also have King Diamond's single "no presents for christmas" and the Billy Squire christmas song. Can't remember the name of it. I think I have all of TSO's cds. Anybody know of more rock x-mas music?

I have all 3 of the Gary Hoey Christmas CD's. Great stuff!

I also have the Lynyrd Skynyrd Christmas CD. It also features .38 Special and The Charlie Daniels Band.

The "Very Special Christmas" Cd's are good. I think there are 4 of them and a live one. I love the Tull album...

"Sleighed" is another of my favorites, not as hard as you might think...

After that for Xmas I go to James Taylor, Harry Connick, Elvis, Alvin and the Chipmunks, all the traditional stuff...

Oh yeah, that's the other one! You posted that on here before I believe, and that's how I initally found out about it.
Other than those I dont know of any other Christmas cd's with decent music on them. Of course some of those versions are kind of iffy themselves.
Except for King Diamond!

Yeah he said 'TSO' in his first post. (That's what they are referred to sometimes.)

The B. E. Taylor Christmas CD's are good. Donnie Iris is on the first one. They are much more on the mellow side than rock but still done very well.

Did he play guitar for the SNL band? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

That would have been G. E. Smith. The SNL band at that time consisted of former members of the Hall & Oates band, which G. E. Smith was the guitarist.

G.E. Smith is one of the most versatile guitarists out there and he also writes killer arrangements.
An old friend of mine, (RIP) used to have one of the gigantic satellite dishes and you could watch SNL without commercials. They kept the camera on the band between breaks. They were almost better than the comedy.

And about the Transiberian Orchestra, even Alex Skolnick referred to them as TSO when we talked to him outside of the Testament show in State College. He was going on tour with TSO a few weeks after that show.
... and then the wheel fell off.

Just got this and gave it half a listen and it rocks. Especially the Dio and Geoff Tate. Chuck Billy should not be singing Silent Night.
