Coming up on 6 years

Post by metalchurch »

Almost 6 years since this version of Rockpage has been on the net!

I know I wasnt here from the very beginning, but I frequented the site quite alot before I finally registered, and it's been almost 2 years already since then.

Ron and JP have done alot of work keeping things flowing on here and giving us such an awesome resource not only to promote the music of central PA, but also a way to communicate with each other, and to find band mates, and meet alot of great people from the area.
Some of whom I haven't met in person, yet from talking to them on here, it seems as if we've been friends forever.
Most of those who I have met, have turned out to be awesome people and almost instant friends.

We can find places to record, sell gear, get help with our gear in the tech, or simply bs in the general dicussion.

This is by far the best site in the PA area hands down, and sometimes we take this site for granted and forget for a moment how much work is involved by these 2 guys.
I said sometimes, but not always! Remember just a few months ago JP had some problems and we all stepped up to the plate to offer assistance and ideas to help him get by.
That was a testament to how much he means to alot of people on here, and in the music community.
We sometimes let it slip our minds, but we never forget.

Ron and Jim, has this site met or exceeded your expectations for what you wanted it to become?
Where do you see this going to in another 5,6 or 10 years?
What initially gave you the idea to create Rockpage?
There was another version of this site before wasnt there?

Of all the cool sites and forums that I am a member of, this is by far one of my favs because I'm among my friends and local peeps.
Every time I'm on the net, I have to stop by and see whats going on.

Anyway, I happened to see the date coming up, and I just wanted to take the time to thank both of you personally for the hard work that you guys have done for each and everyone of us, and for giving us all the oppurtunity to waste our lives away on the internet

Thanks so much for providing this awesome site!!
You guys rock! 8)

I've met a lot of musicians via Rockpage. Thanks Ron, JP. Including mjb, who I started a band with, but better yet, he became a good friend too.

I could make a long list of friends I have met here (you know who you are  ), but suffice it to say - we all began with a common thread (no pun) which is a love of music. And the friendships have blossomed. 8)

Thanks Joe.
I first started Rockpage in 1994, so it's been around quite a while. I have to thank JP for all of help all of these years, and also Chris Peters for his generous ads during UGTV shows. Mostly I have to thank the people who frequent the site and make it a (usually) fun experience.
... and then the wheel fell off.

I remember how proud I was in 1994 when Ron got the domain name rockpage.com to have Ron give me one of the probably 2-3 e mail accounts he got with the domain. So for years I was very proud to give tood@rockpage.com as my e mail address....

Although I don't remember much reason to log into the site very often those early days, I did order a few of the first shirts with the little punk rock looking cartoon dude on them to support the site and show off the URL.

I also remeber in 1994 adding the URL rockpage.com to my PSU student address book and having a professor stop me after class to ask if I had created the web site.. (He was very impressed) but I had to admit I haden't any part in the site but I was good friends with the mastermind behind it !! hehe....

Hard to believe it's been 14 years Ron.. Hell it's hard to believe it's been 18 years since I first got on the internet (Local BBS's were the rage before that)....

In computer time that's milleniums!! hehe..

Keep up the good work Ron.. MAybe one day you'll find a way to make a dollar or two off of this!!! hehe....

Ya know what I find interesting? There's a whole societal structure on here. You have the leaders, the bosses, the religious right, the liberal left, the blue collar workers, the stoners, the welfare bums, the retired financiers, the bouncers, and even a dog groomer!! Almost like an online fantasy game. I think it's neat.
