I finally took a plunge and I am replacing my Alesis 3630's. I have a Drawmer DSL424 on the way (which I am super excited about; especially for the deal I got) and I am eyeing up a DBX160. I have never used a Drawmer; but their gates get fantastic reviews.
I also picked up a set of nearly brand new Shure 81's for less than half of what a pair would cost right b4 Xmas. Maybe deep into the year I will add a nice new mid/high end vocal mic, depending on what the economy does. I picked up a used low mid priced Shure KSM27 but I dont think a whole lot of it. Id call it a marginal difference between it and a MXL 990 Ive had for awhile. The deal was right on it, so it can go into the mic closet.
Lots of deals out there...

I already bought recording stuff before the holidays, but I picked up one of these Audix condenser mics on super-sale the other day for a live drum overhead and an occasional hi-hat recording mic...but mostly to keep those Neumann KM84s out of the bars.
This mic is decently hot (10mv/Pa--too hot to sing into--I tried it) and has a wide cardioid pattern so that one will work well for most live drum overhead situations--of course 2 are better. At $50, its practically free:
