Altoona Curve National Anthem Tryouts 2-7-09
Altoona Curve National Anthem Tryouts 2-7-09
The Altoona Curve sent this email out today
There are thousands of people who have always dreamed of stepping to the microphone to sing the National Anthem before a professional baseball game in front of a ballpark filled with anxious, excited fans.
The Altoona Curve want to make that dream possible for area fans and will be holding their yearly tryouts for those interested in singing The Star Spangled Banner prior to a Curve game this season. If you or someone you know wants to be one of the select few who will have the chance of a lifetime to perform at Blair County Ballpark, make sure you’re at Logan Valley Mall on Saturday, February 7 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Registration for the tryouts begins at 8:15 a.m., and the stage for the event will be set up on the second level of the mall, across from the American Eagle Outfitters store inside the mall. Tryouts are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
All renditions of the National Anthem are to be done a cappella. Whether you’re a soloist, duet, quartet full chorus, or even an instrumentalist, all types of performers are all invited to audition.
Contestants will be rated by a panel of celebrity judges from the Altoona area. The judges will rate all performers on their entire body of work.
The judges are:
9:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Adam Erikson from the Q94 Morning Show
Doug Herendeen from the WRTA This Morning
Steve Kelsey from the Froggy 98.1 Morning Show
Rob Z. from Hot 100.1
10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Tommy Edwards from the Rocky 104.9 Morning Show
Abbie Tang from WJAC-TV
Scott Franco from the Altoona Mirror
Joe Shuta from ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM
Once the winners are selected to sing prior to one of the Curve’s 71 home games during the 2009 season, they will then be contacted by a representative from the Curve front office.
Throughout the day, fans will have the opportunity to personally learn about the new, lower ticket prices implemented for the Curve’s 11th season. Team mascots, Steamer and Diesel Dawg will also be on hand to entertain the kids and cheer on all performers. The National Anthem tryouts have become one of the many festive, family-friendly off season events the Curve hold during their off-season.
Those seeking additional information about the auditions can call Elsie Zengel, Director of Community Relations at (814) 943-5400, ext. 129.

Sandra Bernhart is pretty ugly. Imagine the weeding night with that babe in that dress ?

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
That's what I said
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?
I met her on Monday, 'twas my lucky bun day
You know what I mean
I love her each weekday, each velvety cheek day
You know what I mean
My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights
Big game is waiting there inside her tights, yeah
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?
Music Rocks!

it's just for fun
I sang the opening season 2 months after Chase was born (Jesus - almost 10 years ago!) We got nice seats and I was on TV cuz it was WJAC night.
It was hilarious we were late (as always) and we're riding on the shoulder to the ballpark and I have my head out the passanger window yelling at everyone to let us through cuz i have to sing the Anthem! (everyone was nice and we got there just in time!)
Just another day in the circus that is the Baker Household!!
Rob - you should totally show up in drag and do it!!! I say, go as Cher - all that dark makeup for Whitney would be a drag (I know, cuz I used to impersonate Tina Turner (a loooooong time ago) !!
I'll help ya with your makeup!!!

Dude, haven't you ever seen the episode of The Simpsons where Homer becomes a mascot? Capital City had two mascots in that episode: The Capital City Goofball and Dancing Homer.slackin@dabass wrote:can i ask a serious question?
why does the curve have two mascots? i thought the standard was one mascot per team... and i thought usually... you know... the bears would have a bear, the eagles would have an eagle the steelers would have an i-beam... right?
