Pick-Up Covers and Knobs

Alright, so i ordered my pick up covers and knobs in black. I think its gonna make my strat look pretty bad ass but i just need to know how complex this is to change? I dont wanna tear it apart and then be like ..ugh now what do i do.

so my question is, is this a simple process or something i should let someone else do? and if i should let someone else do it, who could do it for me?

another thing, i was thinking about getting the body painted. now, i dont know the inner workings of a guitar at all. how complex are these things inside and is it all connected to the pickguard? (an older guitar i have had everything connected to the pickgaurd and i could physically remove everything with out having to cut any wires - unlike my bass which has i guess a ground wire - intertwined into the body.) ... and I heard that if you tear down a guitar and sand the body and repaint it you can change the sound, is that true?

.... this thing is like my child, so i won't even mess with it in fear of screwing something up. thanks for looking/helping.

i think you should give it a try, i'm sick of typing or i'd tell you how to do it. maybe tomarrow. take it apart and put it back together if it doesn't work, then get someone to help you out. it's pretty easy. if your going to take it all apart for a paint job thats a little different cuz then your takeing the neck and bridge and everything off and that would require a whole set-up type deal. maybe joe would hook you up for a couple of bucks. he seems to be the resident fixer of all things guitar. if you hear him say dremmel tool grab your strat and run

if your lookin for a custom paintjob get ahold of paul on here. from what i seen, he's the best.

you'll never learn if you don't dig in and give it a shot. good luck.

knobs are like..... just pull them off and put the new ones on. save them though, if you ever sell your strat it's nice to have all the original stuff.

i know, iknow ....you'll never sell it and i hope you never have too. we've probobly all been down that road at one time or another. i had a sea-foam green japanese strat with a rosewood neck i wish i had back. man i liked that ax. oh well, thats the way she goes sometimes.

i think your right, i should give it a shot. i just dont wanna mess it up....

im not sure about painting it just yet - id like to, cause i want it all black. but we'll see what happens.
