One of my proudest moments in music came with the revelation that my first real rock band, Blytz was on the playlist when US forces had Manuel Noriega holed up in the Vatican Embassy in Panama in the mid-80's. Blytz played an early version of speedmetal, and being a "first band," we kinda sounded like shyte, but that was the point for torturing dictators. I like to fantasize that after the 3rd time they played our cassette in a row, Noriega burst out the front door, holding his ears, tearily begging for it to stop.
We got on the playlist when our friend, Army communications specialist Julie Hearn, was asked to "go get the most annoying music you can find."
