mesa 400+ bass head question

Post by EyesOfAnguishbassist »

Ok so ive never had any problems with this head until this weekend when we were playing in Bloomsburg and it just started blowing fuses left and right. I would put a new one in, then about 2 seconds later it would blow again. I'd put another one in and as soon as I plugged in and turned it on it would blow another. I finally gave up until I blew probably 4 fuses and that was all I had left so I borrowed someones head for our set. What gives??!? lol

I tend to agree with Scott here, it sounds like a bad tube or socket.
There's definitely something wrong here.

The worst thing you could do is to keep plugging fuses in, because it's blowing them for a reason, because it could potentially mess something else up on your board or whatever.

Call Terry @ Terry's Guitars -N- Stuff, his amp tech Mike is really good at what he does and he will make damn sure it is 100% or you wont get it back until it is.
I had himrepair my Marshall 9200 last June and he bench tested it for 4 hours before he was satisfied with it.

In the meantime dont mess with it and dont even plug it in, because you might have more problems than what you have now.

Good call Scott.
I forgot to list that info.

I have Mike's # if you want to talk to him.
PM me and I'll hook you up with it.
You can atleast run it by him and explain what it's doing and he can get an idea on what it needs before he gets started.

I'd bet you have a (or some) blown resistor(s). Cheap parts, lots of labor costs.
