Not too bad Dave, how about you?
I havent been online as much as I used to be.
I've been working on my Mustang pretty much every waking moment since I got it.
Been on the quest for a lower E.T.
I ran a 14.30 @ 100.5 when I got it and last weekend I ran a 12.65 @ 106.4
That's thru the factory exhaust pipes and Y pipe into single exhaust!
It had 3.55's in it, but I put an 8.8 rearend out of a '92 Stang in it last weekend with 3.73's and I added an extra clutch pack on each side, so now the rear end is locked up real nice. (burns posi like no other)

I have new Hooker 1-5/8" full length headers, Bassani 2-1/2" Stainless X-pipe and a Competition Cams 270 Magnum cam thats going in this weekend and then I'm going to port match everything so it flows better.

Trying to get it into the 11's before summer's over.
I have some other things to try out on it, but I think I can get it there...

I'm guessing that it weighs around 2500 lbs, but I'd like to run it across a scale to make sure.

I gutted the interior, and all I have is a dash board, and front seats!
No power steering,A/C, smog pump, etc.. and I'm running an electric fan.

This is my everyday car, so I have to keep it somewhat streetable, but it looks like I have to get another car for the winter..

.....sorry for the hi-jack brother.
This thread was doomed from the start it appears...LOL

MC,

Cool! Not bad here. Haven't been on a much as in the past myself.

Used to have a '67 Fastback. Old guy who owned it before me did so much
to that engine (He'd replaced the 289 with a 302...then started working. Insane
auto).

I look back at it and thought "What a STUPID car for a 19 year old to have".
Got it for next to nothing when I was 18, then worked on it during trips back
from college. After getting out of college, having those joyous bills start coming
in, driving an hour to and from work..in a car that got 9Mi to the gallon....sold it.

Who knows. Maybe get another one someday.

Guess this all constitutes a "hijack"...huh?

Awesome!
The '67-68 Fastback is my favorite car ever!
My brother loves the '67, but I didn't like the little vents in the quarter panel all that much, so I am more partial to the '68.

My Dad had 3 of them when I was younger, and it would have been nice if he would have kept them atleast until I was old enough to drive...

Joe,

Yepper. My dad had a 69 'Coupe. Burgundy w/Blk vinyl. He got rid off it when my
younger brother was born in '71. Hmm...Mustang...brother...Mustang...brother....
which would I rather have now...?

I almost bought a '65 Coupe a few years ago (So, perhaps therein is the answer.
I've never had the slightest inclination to buy another brother). Went to ask about
and it had sold just the day before (Which was probably best in the long run).

Joe,

Actually, the last thing I need is that temptation. Crazy prices for both, though.
Might've been too much to withstand!

Yeah the '68 came with a shot load of extra body parts, 2 motors, 3 transmissions, rear ends, etc.... a nice package deal for sure.
The '65 was a 289 4 speed car. It was inspected and ready to run, but it needed the interior re-done.
He sold it so cheap because he and his wife seperated and he needed money to get back up on his feet.

If you ever change your mind let me know, cause I know where there's alot of old Fords and Mercurys.
I eat and breathe that stuff man!

That it was up and legal to go alone is big plus (And...I can sew...I'm not afraid to admit
it. Problem with any projects is, I just don't have time. Criminy...it's been several months
and I've not had a chance to build an open back 1x12...and that's just an unfinished freakin'
box. Good chance we're also going to take down the garage to build an addition onto the
house.... Kind of puts a kink in my sailboat plans as well...

Any Mustang shows happenin' at Carlisle this year? Went to a couple a few years
ago and had a great time.

Oh yeah...wonder things are going with Rick's ValveKing?

Yeah it threw me as well.

I was actually gonna delete my posts/hi-jacks from the other thread, but when I got on here I saw that Ron beat us to it

*If we hit the "X" and delete our posts we can do it ourselves, but we'd have to do it one at a time.
I delete my post, then you delete yours, then I delete mine, etc...the whole way up until we get to the beginning of our ramblings...

I need some parts and I'd actually like to find a whole car that runs because I am not driving my '82 in the winter/bad weather.

I'd like to find a 1979-1985 Mustang that runs, so if you know of any let me know.

My buddy has a 1979 Mustang with a 4cyl Turbo 5 speed, which would be perfect for a winter beater, but I dont know if he wants to sell it yet...
He paid $500 for it and I offered him $800, but I dont know if he's gonna bite or not..

That thing needs alot of work!
You see "custom" fender flares on the rear?

It has a 79-82 'Stang fron end on it, but it has the '83-86 hood, which has a lip on the leading edge. It doesn't fit right, if you look at the pics you'll see what I mean.

It has a posi-rear so all I have to do is add another clutch pack in each side (4 per side, as opposed to 3 per side from factory) and that will lock up the rear end better for more traction.
Also air the tires down to 22psi, add 75-100 pounds of weights in the trunk and it will go just about anywhere.
I used to own nothing but Mustangs and Mercury Capris, when I lived in Somerset and I would always have atleast one for a winter car.

The 4cyl and 3.8 V6 cars didn't have alot of power, so they dont break the rear wheels loose as easily.
Being that '79 is a 5 speed car, I'd just have to ease it out in 1st gear to get it rolling and then short shift it.
