AlaskaLand - Who remembers?

I was always afraid to go there around my birthday because they would bring out the Aleutian Volcano with the flame on top, beat that damn drum and sing Happy Birthday to you over the P.A. (I think they were the first in the area to have the staff sing together for you)

I remember going their as a kid and those funky mirrors they had. They had some big burgers that is for sure.

I was always badgering my parents to take me there, but they only took me a few times. I still remember the flaming Volcano.

It was located in the plaza with Weis Market - the one on Pleasant Valley Blvd and 6th (ish) Street.

I never got to go to Alaskaland. Just once as a kid I wanted to get to go through that little door they had for kids, damnit. All the kids my age got to go there for their birthdays. Yeah, I am bitter

I remember Alaskaland. I got to enjoy the Aleutian Volcano on my birthday there a couple of times. And I got to go through the little kid door.

Alaskaland was in the Weis plaza on East Pleasant Valley Boulevard, right where the state store is now.

Yes, it did have a sort of Chuck E. Cheese vibe to it, but more ice cream and burger geared...

I can't remember 100% for sure, but I'm thinking the mid-80's is when Alaskaland closed. I may be wrong...

I remember birthday parties there and the papoose door. Wasn't there an ice cream dish larger than the Aleutian volcano called the Mt. McKinley?

Aleutian Volcanoes were great! I remember going through the small door

Everyone else said it was by the weis market on East pleasant valley blvd.

(across the street from granny's)

Hooters used to be Studio 7 wasn't it?

We used to dine and dash Pappy's almost every weekend when we were in high school.

A little note about Park Hills Plaza,does anyone remember the name of the electronics store between Pappy's and the movie theater. That little store is where I bought my tickets for Ozzy and Metallica in '86. The tickets were only $13.50 a piece
