I am looking for a way to stop the sound from coming out of my amp when I tune on stage. I run a pedal board with about 5 pedals through my effects loop. One of the pedals is a fender pedal tuner that i really like but it doesnt have a mute mode. I am looking for a way to let the signal get to the tuner but stop before it gets the amp so i can tune without the crowd hearing it. They used to make a pedal for singers called the cough drop that was basically just a mute button. That would work great but I cant seem to find one anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions?
My Korg tuner has a mute button, but it's a rack mount unit. I was unsure what pedal tuners have that feature, but you could get another tuner like the Boss that was suggested, or simply turn your amp down while you tune until you get a replacement.
The Fender pedal tuner(PT 100) I have has two output jacks, one to mute and one not to. It works great,it even picks up the low tunings that we used to use.
Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I like the Boss tuner but for the price it really doesnt do anything more then what my pt-100 does. I also tried using the 2nd input which mutes the signal when the pedal is engaged but I like to have the tuner on all the time so i can always keep an eye on where my tuning is while i am playing. I am probably gonna try what metalchurch said and get an a/b pedal to kill the signal.
