Yes. They made the switch on Thursday morning.

The end of an era.

I think it's the beginning of the end.

Wow, I can't fathom q94 going country .. I like country, but Q94 is not a country station.

you know it's funny. a friend of mine took me today to get fitted for a tux, and he was scanning through the channels and whatnot, and everytime we went past q94 it was country and i just couldn't believe it. i loved that station then it started going downhill. first no more professor, now it's country. well, good riddance. that's what i have to say. i'll find another radio station to listen to or i'll get xm again.

it's just a shame, i really liked the stuff they'd play

I was waiting for someone to talk about this.. It sucks cause all of the classic rock stations are dying. When I was in college, in Pittsburgh you had WRRK 96.9 which was one of the most awesome classic rock stations (like memorial day weekend they'd play the top 100 albums, cover to cover) and it went away :( Now Q94, one of the only good stations in Altoona is gone. Does 94.7 still play classic rock? Altoona has truely become the haven for Smack Addicts and Rednecks, and I'm guessing the occasional smack addict redneck. Kind of glad I don't live there anymore...

Sad.....

Glad I have XM......

Sometimes I listen to GO 106.1 out of Cumberland MD... It's classic rock and I can get it from the time I leave DC till I get to Altoona

You might be the only person on earth that can stomach GO 106, lol. Everyone I know hates that station. They beat every decent song to death. The Q94 we have down here is just as bad, but the songs they play over and over are by Justin Timberlake or Lady Ga Ga. I'm thankful everyday that I have and IPod.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

I kinda feel like it was time. Q-94's been on a downhill slide for at least a year, really more. Plus, the classic rock format is dying... it's what late 60's oldies was a decade ago... played out.
If the country station plays country, I'll listen, but I'm guessing it'll be the Amer.-Idolized crap that the amphibian station plays, so I'm not holding my breath.--->JMS

I AM SO SICK OF COUNTRY (AND POP) ON MY RADIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am to the point that I boycott radio altogether. It just sucks anymore. There is no choice when everything is owned by that POS forever broadcasting. The FCC never should have unfrozen the stations. Now we have NO CHOICES!!!

I swear if I hear one more swamp pun, I'm going to go postal.

Mainstream radio has been lame for quite a while. Usually, when I listen to the radio in the car, it's of the news/talk variety.

Speaking of the radio...Why is Nirvana all of a sudden getting tons of airtime? And it's not even Teen Spirit, it's "Come As You Are" "All Apologies" (both album and unplugged), and every so often "Heart Shaped Box"? I'm a huge Soundgarden fan and I think Nirvana is way too overrated. It's cool that Grunge is starting to make a come back on the radio, but man...there's so many better bands and better songs than Nirvana and the songs listed above.

Sorry for the rant...but it made me remember.

I think a lot of that has to do with the re-release of Pearl Jams Ten cd. It wouldn't surprise me if they re-released Nirvina's nevermind cd ...

Somebody had Q94=Sellout (or something along those lines) written on their car's back window today in Altoona.

Thank goodness that Rocky 104.9 is alive and well. Right now, it's the best we can do for over-the-air radio around here. I listen in moderation.

Yea I noticed they play certain songs to death and you can set your watch to the time they play them every day....

I guess it's just that I only listen when XM has gotten boring so I have a mix to keep it interesting....

And the funny thing is...country today is more rock than what most rock stations are actually playing!

Haha, that's true.

Actually, a lot of the really cool rock music being put out right now is from Christian rock bands. A lot of it reminds me of the really well-written and arranged stuff from the late 90s/early 2000s.
