longest and shortest times you have ever played in a band?

Post by EyesOfAnguishbassist »

Longest for me was when I played for Eyes Of Anguish which was a year and a half. The reason we broke up was because we were having trouble with our one and only guitarist commiting to practice and shows and being from the So. Huntingdo County area it was hard to find someone to replace him, especially with being younger and finding someone to play our style of music.

Shortest time was probably when I was a vocalist for Ashes of Eminence for about 4 months and the only reason we broke up was because of half the members went to college in other states.

Right now the band I've been with is almost a new record, I've been with Surrender The Savior for 1 year and 1 month and hoping to stay with these dudes. Most fun I've had yet, but stranger things have happened lol.

The longest I was in the same band is with my current band The Conniptions. We will celebrate our 8th anniversary in August. With the same lineup too.

My second longest band was Lickety Split for 7 years but we we had numerous personnel changes and only myself and one other guy were there the entire time.

My shortest band would have been maybe 2 months and we played 1 gig and broke up. The band was called Axe.

I have played 1 or 2 gigs with several throw together bands too.

Longest, i dunno. Saucemonster? Like 2 years. However Slacker Theory is coming up to that pretty soon.

Shortest. HF1. Joined them, played one show with them and got offered the gig in Reno.

My longest tenuer in a band is with Merge. We've been together 7 years, though we haven't played in a while. Life gets in the way sometimes. The band I'm in now, The Syndrome, has been together about 8 months. I've enjoyed every minute of it.

My shortest tenure was probably sometime back in the 90's. I don't remember the name but I was only it for a few rehearsals. I didn't even play a show with them.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

I don't really have any long-time stories at this point. Hasn't really worked out for periods well, most unfortunately... Cos I've worked with quite talented individuals, but different things have caused premature breakups and distancing where the band simply didn't function, AT ALL

However, I was in the Side Effects with Brian for a night. Was a fun night!

Hmm... I need to get some gear and get my ass in gear

The longest would be Banditos, which had a 4 year run. That was a lot of fun.

Not counting one-offs that I fill in for, the shortest would be FBI, which was the band that spawned Banditos. We were together for about 3 months, and played one gig.

Cyphin has been together for over 7 years now. Now granted we have been through some different line up changes. But must say this has been the most fun I have ever had in any band.

Longest would be Thin Ice, about 10 years, I think... I did play with other bands simultaneously... plus, we never really officially broke up.
Shortest serious stint was with John Hazel's Nitro. We never rehearsed, we just recorded tracks for a record that was released overseas, never played out together. It lasted about 2 months, I think.
No wait... I auditioned for a Hanover metal band called Backsteet Kids, and they said I was in. By the time I got home, there was an answer on my machine saying they changed their minds, and the guitarist would be the singer. So, maybe an hour. :D --->JMS

White Shadow has been going 34 1/2 years. I've been in and out but have about 17 years combined.

Most other bands that I've been in, usually run about a year and a half.

I've been in Fedup for five years!

I've been in a few bands for like a month or so. There was this time in the late 90's early 2000's where every metal band wanted to do shitty nu-metal.

I'd go to a few practices, and then they'd start talking about "doin some Limp Bizkit, or Godsmack" then I'd bounce.

while it lasts. At my age, you never know if it's your last hahaha ;)
