To all the Cigarette smokers

Post by Flaw »

A bill was passed giving all control of cigarettes to the FDA. This will let the FDA regulate the amounts of harmful additives that go into a cigarette. They also will make the companies disclose all the ingredients that go into a cigarette. The FDA is also going to test the effects of menthol cigarettes on the body, since nobody knows if the menthol flavor has any different effect on the body then a normal cigarette.

So yeah there is a lot more that goes into this but to some up what i heard and briefly read, there will now be nutritional facts on cigarettes, ingredients printed on the pack, and the price of cigarettes will sky rocket again. As a smoker I'm kinda for the regulation of certain chemicals and as of the rise in price, if i wanna smoke ill buy. The sad thing is, I think it will hurt a lot of farmers and jobs in the tobacco field.

Yea, just imagine if we get a socialized health care system...they will be regulating everything. I mean, the whole reason they are regulating cigarettes is because of health risks and health care costs. And all the increases in cigarette taxes, well what happens if people really start to quit? Where will they get the tax dollars then? Personally, I hate cigarettes, however if people wanna smoke them, they know the risks. I really dislike when the government does something because they feel people are too dumb for their own good. Complete bullshit. I bet the framers are rolling over in their graves. They fought for REAL freedom from tyranny and to have a better life for the people and have less government regulation...here we are some 230 years later talking about passing stupid bullshit legislation on the people's choice to smoke or not....wow, the issues we have these days. We're right on top of that shit, and at the same time, we are letting N.Korea do whatever the hell they want with nukes.....sorry for the rant. This shit just pisses me off.

You're still allowed to smoke.
Smoking is the single biggest drag on the US health system. It causes cancer, COPD, heart disease, and hell, pretty much everything else that can go wrong with the human body. Nicotine is the most addictive drug, and Cig companies manipulate the formula of their product to trap YOU into buying more of their product... kinda like cutting your heroin a little hotter so the little junkies keep coming back for more.
Can someone name a single benefit to smoking? Can someone name a good reason to start? It's always the same reason: peer pressure ...looking "cool." They stink, they're expensive, and there's a 50% chance that they will eventually kill you. Put 3 bullets in a revolver, spin it and point it at your head... wait 30 years and pull the trigger. They age your skin, yellow your teeth, force you out into bad weather, set your bed on fire, holy hell, what's the upside? Why even have this conversation?
The cig companies HELPED CREATE this legislation. They're not the least bit concerned about your "freedom," or your health. They just want to sell you smokes. Suckers. :D --->JMS

In my Batcave I have new carpeting with 5 long burn holes. There's 3 on the couch as well. Bad habit of sleeping and smoking. Glad to say I've been smoke free for 8 months.

well... i always thought this was a free country. so i could do what i wanted to myself as long as i hurt no one else. i'm not allowed to smoke in public anymore, so really, i harm no other person unless they are in my house. so, yea... it's just big brother.

and just remember, once the government pays for your healthcare, they can tell you what they want you to do to be covered. what? red meat is bad for you? well, your getting less, and if you eat too much of it, we just won't pay for your doctors visits. what? you were out drinking last night, and stumbled down the steps and twisted your ankle real bad the next morning? too bad, we're not covering it because you were drinking.

yea, i want national health care... what? you smoke beans? well, sorry, bucko, you ain't getting covered.
