Question for the Bands..

Post by CrossfireRadio »

I was kinda curious to know..

What would get bands/band members to post events, band info, band schedule, etc on a site?

What kind of site is easier for bands?
(forum type site, site like myspace set up, etc)

I wanted to figure out why like 95% of bands never do what they say they will do. Or figure out, what makes it easier for them to get their info out there..

Just lookin for a little help out there for most of you band members...

Thanx :D

Without being exactly sure of where you what you meant; some part
of it is A) Time available to get to everything and B) Return On
Investment. As with any business, wherever you see the returns,
you concentrate your available resources. Where you/we see the
payoff is where we spend the available time.

For example, When "we" first started, we had tons ofpeople hit
our site. Nowadays, it's barely revies because people are more
apt to check the MySpace than the actual site. SO, that's where
we post IMGs, etc.

That may be an overly simplistic answer,..but it's also a...simplistic
one.

Sometimes we go through a lot of changes and keeping up with every
place we've listed our (Often revolving) lineups, scheds, etc. is
too much to remember a/o maintain.

What you "guys" do for the "scene" is really cool. Personally, I've
mentioned you as being good for the area. I know others have done
the same and I hope ya'll keep growing and end up being a regular
listening/viewing force.

Unfortunately, what a lot of us do, and I don't mean this in a disparaging
way at all, isn't what works for you (Actually, have been trying to remedy
that for a long time with more/new original stuff). SO, without knowing
exactly what the question means...the above answer is probably somewhat
nebulous.

Well what Im meaning by the question is... We at CFR want to create a site all for bands...

like a CFR Band Community site, where bands and their fans can interact with each other, or find new fans... Theres a good amount of our listeners that like the Unsigned Bands and request them.

But it seems "SOME" not all bands, just dont care, and just want attention and do nothing but go play and hope people find them.

In July I will running a Show on Monday nights called Make it Or Break it - to sort of "weed out" the bands that don't care whether people hear them or not and with the bands that do care about their music and about their fans.

Were all for the Music scene and the unsigned bands getting heard - As an internet radio station - Not just local people hear your music - But other countries and other states also hear your music.

Hell, we even get service men/women (The US Troops) tune in when they are able to.. People from japan, india, spain.. you get the picture....

But why should we attempt to push bands that don't care?

So what im looking to do is create a small little site apart of the station for the bands and for the fans.. But Im looking to see what kind, and will bands take the time to do it for their fans

Does that help? :D

Bag, I'm gonna get on Dave about that. Just for you.

The reason I don't push for radio play:

The dynamic of our band has changed so much, and I don't have a recording that fairly represents us. That will change soon enough.

Maybe, some people just don't take internet radio seriously. IDK???

Im not sure how many on Rockpage listen to "net" radios... But you'd be surprised on how many actually do.

Pogo.com, myspace, other music forums, other bands... We had member from scorpion on couple weeks ago...

And we just recently got asked to "air" the Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, KY in August.. So we will have a few people from there on the air (interviews) like linda blair, the original "Jason" and so on..

and every sunday - we have a DJ that does LIVE band shows from his Studio he has set up at his home... They play a few songs, chit chat a bit, Q&A, take a break, play some more... usually from 6pm-8pm(est)

"Unsigned" bands get more exposure on Net Radio, then terrestrial stations.. Seeings their only local stations... And of course thats why RIAA/Sound Exchange hit us harder then anyone else.. (aside from the bars that don't comply)..

But there are a good amount of people that tune into internet radio...

Anyone from here (other than me) Probably not haha... oh well, OP went totally out of alignment... but I guess that hows RP rolls...

I'm confused then.
I was just saying that bands WILL do what they think will get them the most exposure. We are lazy and we do "Just want to play". Most musicians look at everything but playing as "Shit we gotta do" or even worse,......... "W*RK". So we take the channels that we think will require the least amount of work/time and get the most results. That's also called "being an American". The bands who do the most work/invest the most time usually get better results, but not always, because sometimes their band just sucks.

The easiest site for me is myspace, but looks like I should be using facebook and twitter as well.

(only ones I talk bad about on air is the government and the president)
