Local bass player Dave Nearhoof passed away

Post by Hawk »

Dave passed away June 21.

Most of you probably don't know Dave. He's been sick for a while and hasn't been playing.

Dave was the bass player in the first rock band I was ever in. I remember the first gig I ever played with that band. Catholic Church in Hastings PA. I was nervous as hell and made lots of mistakes. Dave kept looking back and shaking his head "no".

After the gig Dave and the rest of the band made jokes about the town and made me laugh. Dave could always make me laugh.

At the next gig I was relaxed and playing without the mistakes. Dave kept looking back and nodding to me. That became the way we played all the time after that.

Dave and I played in a couple of bands together, including a band called Skye. He was one of three bass players that went through that band.

We had many good times together and I will miss him. I will miss his laugh and wit. Bless you Dave.

Thanks for the word, Hawk. I knew Dave from the days when he played in Excaliber with Don Ruzzi, who's also no longer with us (Don's sister Annette is my best friend).

My heartfelt condolences on Dave's passing.

I never met him, but heard stories about him and the band projects he was a part of through the years. I especially was intrigued with Skye; I wish I would have been able to see that band in action!

I offer my condolences. I am sure that I know him but I cannot put a face to the name. Does anyone have any band pictures or anything?

Dave was a great guy, he played in a few bands with my dad and uncle for years. I will always remember his laugh and his sense of humor.
We did a benefit for him a few years ago, and we are all sad to see him go. Dave you will be missed my friend
Recording Records DIY, with more than one good song. Watch for my new band
