Micheal Jackson
Music has lost a legend. The Gloved-One may not have been influential for many of us, but as a kid I remember watching him and his brothers on the Ed Sullivan Show.
It is too bad that his star faded the way it did.
RIP Michael

Damn. Didn't expect to see this today. I always liked Michael's early material post J5. His first two albums still can't be topped by pop artists 20+ years after it was made. It's a real shame his personal life hurt his musical career so much. R.I.P.

We were learning Billy Jean tonight at practice and found out that he had a heart attack mid rehearsal. Crazy stuff. I remember being really young and sitting on the couch at my grandma's house watching bad, billy Jean, thriller, etc. He was the king of pop and a big part of what made the '80s so fun.

I think it takes a big loss like this and the whole world steps back and goes, "Oh, shit. I guess we were pretty lucky to have this person and we didn't realize it while we were making their life miserable." It has happened with amazing people over and over again in history with folks like Jesus, Socrates, and Galileo. People are pretty stupid and ungrateful.
Even though you are angry and intoxicated, there is a lot of truth to what you said, Steve. It's the lowest of the low to down a person and then jump on the "we love you" bandwagon once they are gone. By the way, thanks for the Ryobi stuff. I'm lovin' it!

You know, Michael was talented back in the day. But when he went about touching young boys, that was just fucked up. So I really don't feel bad about his death. If anything, I feel sorry for his family who had to go through watching him deteriorate as a decent human being into something that remotely resembled a human being. What a sad ending to a sad fall from the top.
Regardless of what you think of the man, nothing can be taken from his impact on music. It's the same as OJ's fall from grace. No matter what, you can't take the 2000-yard season away, or the other records. MJ was a bad mother-effing performer and I'll guarantee most on this site were influenced by him in some way. Off The Wall and Thriller were both amazing and I know this performer at least helped to teach me how to sing. Michael the artist and performer will be missed and this death is a momentous blow to the music industry, from the top to the bottom. IMHO, this is every bit the landmark event as the death of Elvis. r:>)
That's what she said.
If he did hurt those children, I agree wholeheartedly, man. I've always pingponged between whether he was just really, really, really naive and childish or a molester. The law says he's innocent, so I try to put my faith in the U.S. Legal System and give the judge and jury the benefit of the doubt.
