I've got about 20 more boxes full to photograph yet; stuff going back to the civil war even.

Cool collection... I'd love to see some of them....JackANSI wrote:I have a crap load from papers I've never heard of, so I am looking for a newspaper buff who has some answers google doesn't.
What did you want answers about?
My mom was the proofreader for the Altoona Mirror for 30+ years till she got replaced by a computer with spell check in the late 80's.. She's a goldmine of newspaper trivia...

Cool site...bfoust wrote:http://www.liveblaircounty.com/
A work in progress but I like his ambition.... You can tell from the layout he hopes to grow it to have some serious local history....
I'm just glad the story about the birth of Altoona didn't include that stupid story about Altoona being an Indian name for whatever sounds cool to the storyteller...
we all know Germans who named Rail towns named them after Altoona Germany... Just cause that story wasn't PC during WWI doesn't mean you make up a bunch of BS stories about Altoona having some Indian origin... haha...
OK My venting for the day.......
