Doesn't seem right, does it?

And then this asshole...
Los Angeles (E! Online) – The Rev. Al Sharpton thinks Michael Jackson deserves being honored commensurate with his star status. That means a postage stamp, a national day of mourning—and deferential treatment from the media.

I'll tell you what is wrong with this.... it shows that the mainstream liberal leftist media..CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC all decide to tell us that supporting the war is wrong and those that have given their lives for this country is not worth the time and effort.
What really pisses me off is that while ppl continue to fight for our rights to do such things as have a memorial for an icon, we do not need to make him out to be GOD!
Im not sure having a postage stamp is all that bad, but a day of mourning (he's been dead a week now) and a national holiday is way out of proportion!!!!

I agree that some segments of our news media ought to get their priorities straight.

We've had news stories about North Korea and its missiles, and the unrest in Iran and western China. But the headlines are dominated with MJ's death and funeral, like a former President died. The guy was a pop icon, but he shouldn't be more important than other news items that impact world affairs.

I'm taking notes, though...if I get to teach my news writing and reporting course again this fall, this will make an excellent source for a news ethics discussion!

I guess that i'm only one of the few that remember this joke. What does Michael Jackson and tuna have in common????

They both come in small cans. I don't care how many records he sold, he was a child molester, I don't think that he deserves his own (holiday) special day.

I envy your conviction and knowledge of the truth. You speak with a knowing attitude that I can only envy. Did you spend a little time in Neverland?

I guess that would answer how you know so surely what someone is or isn't.

I always thought the guys family screwed him. I also think that he was looking for love. I know a lot of you will smirk at that but fuck you, the only thing in life that is real is how you effect other people and if your are loved.

beyond that it is a bunch of man made shit that does not really matter in the long run. I will be happy if one of my kids does better then me in making the world a better place, if one of my friends sheds a tear for me when I am gone.

Micheal was looking for love and he did not know how to deal with anything because from the time he was a little kid until last week he was never really allowed to be a human being.

What really gets me is the same news channels that bashed him 4-5 years ago are now mourning his death.

I would have let them spend the night there as quickly as I would let them spend the night at your house. I don't know you from Adam so....

If I would have known the man I would be more qualified to make a judgment. There are some people on this board who are about very heavy shit and demonic crap but I would trust them with my kids with no questions asked. There are some other people on here that talk a lot of peace and kindness but I would not let them take my kids for the night because I don't know them.

If I knew Micheal and I trusted him I would have let the kids spend time with him.

I just don't buy everything that I am told by the media.

I mean its not like they would be going to the beach with George Micheal....

I agree to a point with above post. The man was definitely lacking somewhere. I think the fascination with children was an attempt to keep his youth and live in a world where "this" youth was not like his original.... the perfect childhood. It just made a slightly wrong turn.

My wife and I were discussing this. I offered the question "Does everyone who likes to entertain children sick in some way?" If Jim Henson were known for having children at his house, would he have fallen under the same scrutiny?

That was beautiful. Damn near brought a tear to my eye. But my point is that he's a goddamn entertainer. He doesn't deserve NEAR the coverage.

coverage

Post by tornandfrayed »

I was not addressing the coverage, I was addressing the homophobia that runs rampant in a Rush Limbaugh controlled society.

As far as the coverage goes, even fox and fiends have gone overboard. I am surprised because they are usually pretty on task with ripping the the current administration...

But really, the news media is a crock of shit. I would expect nothing less from them....

Innocent people don't pay millions of dollars for charges to just go away quietly. If he was "looking for love" he was looking for love in all the wrong places. That is unless you can find love in the asses of 8 or 9 year old boys.

I was watching the funeral yesterday on CNN.com. On the side bar people were sounding off from facebook (somehow). Anyway, a lot of them were comparing him to Jesus. Someone even said Michael is/was love vs. God is love. I gotta tell you, it was weird. VERY weird. I didn't like it at all.

I saw his daughter get up at the end and my heart went out to her. She sobbed through saying that she loved her daddy and that he was great to her. Despite all the controversy surrounding him and his possible "appetites," Michael Jackson was a real human being who loved his daughter and took great care of her. That information came from as direct a source as you can possibly get, and I'd believe that before I would any worthless mass media outlet.

Whether he molested kids or not, the man does not deserve his own national holiday. Al Sharpton is a Jackass.

I so agree with you on this. Listening to that mans beak just makes me want to punch him. As soon as I saw him go up on the stage I cringed. The thing that surprised me the most was that Jesse Jackson didn't talk. Although he was able to take time to have his picture taken in front of the billboard. If he did, I didn't see it? There were reports that him and Al Sharpen were having an argument over who would give the eulogy ... Sheesh !

The sad thing is that if Jackson was white, Sharpton wouldn't even know his name. He is about the most racist person around. He won't get involved with anything unless he can play the race card.

When you start treating entertainers of the magnititude of Jackson or even Presley ppl begin to lose their minds. PERIOD!
When Princess Di was killed, the whole world watched now the same with Jackson. If Presley would have lived to an old ripe age, he would have received the same treatment. What was covered when he died was small compared to what happened with Jackson.
I want to point out that did anyone notice the way Sharpton walked off the stage. He straighten his back and acted like some spiritual leader at a revival service.
He did say one thing I will agree with (which is a first) when he said to his kids, about the Jackson not being screwed up it was the world that made him that way.
Think about it... as soon as the charges were filed that hillbilly cop from Santa Barbara Co. wanted to file charges and arrest him. He wanted to make himself out to be the "man who caught" MJ. It didn't happen. He was acquitted. Now all the ppl who tried to ruin him including his father are not wishing they would have done things differently.
