Talk about theft. Anyone ever try to put up a swimming pool?

The state of Pa seems like they want to ass fuck me every time I turn around. I tried to put up a pool for my kids. That started op June 11th. The pool has been up since about June 17th but still no water.

The pool cost $500. The permit and inspection cost was $340. The electrical installation that we did ourselves cost about $300.

Do you realize that to put up a plastic pool you not only have to have a circuit on a GFI breaker for the pool pump installed underground but you also are required to have a 2nd GFI circuit on a separate circuit to plug in your radio or margarita machine. Yes it is true. The 2nd circuit has to be further then 10 feet but less then 20 feet away from the pool.

Somewhere along the way it has become impossible for someone who does not have the extra cash to go and get a cheap pool and put it in for their kids.

I am blown away over this. I have been told that it is for the safety of everyone involved.

Who am I protecting? I will put "no tresspassing" signs on my ground and shoot anyone that approaches. That would protect anyone from drowning in my pool. But that is unacceptable also. I think that the government is there to serve us, what the fuck happened? When did they take over and become the boss of the American people? We are really screwed.

This is not just Obama my friends, it is every elected official in the state of Pa from what I can see.

So bitch and moan all you want about the top, the bottom sucks just as much.

Oh and I am documenting my rather comedic story for an editorial for the mirror. In a conversation with a pool inspector I said "I really appreciate you coming over to do this, can we make you coffee or a sandwich or something. I really don't want to keep you here any longer then necessary." His reply was "Oh don't worry, you won't keep me here, I am leaving"

My 13 year old daughter even realized this was the rudest man she had seen for awhile.

So I guess my point is that we are screwed. We are afraid of the government and we are too busy to really do anything about it but bitch and moan. Myself obviously included.

This whole thing has really given me cause to think. This is over a stupid little thing like putting a plastic pool in. We have issues....

Hey...the man said no taxes for anybody whose income is under $250K.

He never said anything about fines (or fees, or costs of mandates, or business taxes passed on to the consumer, or PLACE YOUR FAVORITE GOVERNMENT CHARGE HERE).

Don't worry, the government is omniscient. They know how to spend your money better than you, so you may as well give them half of everything you make and then your children and your children's children can give them give them the rest.

You're right, it's when democrats have the power. Most liberal government we've ever had. They are only going to get worse now. On the state and federal levels.

Sorry Rob but in doing some research the shit that I am going to deal with was put into effect in 2005. It is a crock of shit. Don't get hung up on the labels my friend, you know me well enough to knwo that I would go to bat for you no matter what. The labels are what make us weak and keep us thinking on a "us or them" scale when the truth of the matter is that you and I could get along better without the two party system creating a void.

You already know that you and I agree on most things. When it comes to politics I want to help those who cannot help themselves, I want a strong economy based on Capitalism, damn man I have only ever been self employed! I want the people who are lazy to have to shit or get off the pot. Most of the same shit you want. This board is full of people who want the same thing but disagree on who can do it the best. Fuck the politicians, I say we fire them. All of them.

We are torn apart by the labels, Dem / GOP, white / black / mexican, metal / country / punk, we have to get rid of that shit and get to the business of life and living.

That little nugget comes from the National Electrical Code. Welcome to my world. The government didn't come up with this, the National Fire Protection Association did and they keep coming up with more junk every year.

This is one of the few times where the government is actually kind of efficient. They let let the NFPA write the rules and the government adopts it and says:

"yeah....what they said."

This is why people generally don't hire accountants to wire houses.

The extra "accessory" box is bullshit, but it only costs an extra $30 or so in parts and is probably worth it in the long run. They just don't want you running an extension cord thru the wet yard.

Hey Dave, the problem is that most people can help themselves. They just don't want to because they rely on the government to take care of them.

Sorry, I was just bitching because they are going to force healthcare upon us. And fine us if we don't get it. Also, they are going to drive up utility costs with this "cap and trade" bill. It's all unnecessary bullshit that they are going to push on us.

Everyone here told me he would never get elected the first time. We are in a pocket of a type of GOP stronghold here in Blair county. I would expect nothing less.

As far as Obama doing no wrong, I don't agree. What I have always said is that he could not possibly do worse...

But that will come out in time. The course has been set. I will tell you guys what I was told 8 years and 6 months ago when I was terrified about GWB being elected. It felt to me like a bad nightmare. I was told that he won and to not support him would be un American.

I decided that I had to just shut up and give the man a chance.

Of course he wants to pass another stimulus. Gee, that means we try and borrow more money from china because we are already bankrupt. Heck, I wonder how long till we change the name of the country to China II ?

The only thing I like about the health bill is that it excludes illegal aliens, but, either way you look at they have to be treated if they go to the ER. So we are paying for it either way. I'm tired of lazy fat people not doing anything for themselves and expecting the whole world to give them a hand out and pay for their 8 kids and food. What a bunch of BS ... I said it once and I will say it again: "If you are too lazy to get off your butt and work for what you got, then you deserve nothing from my hard earned dollar."

Can the value of the dollar and our standard of living stand 4 years of this?

For those who see the reality of what is going on, consider buying the CYB Chinese Yuan money market ETF when (and if) it goes below $25/share.

Think of it as a money market that pays about 2% interest that also cycles about 2% around $25. When the Chinese have loaned all they are willing to loan the US government, they will be forced to unpeg the dollar and the CYB will go to $100 per share almost instantly. Meanwhile, it is a relatively safe haven money market.

When this happens, those still holding dollars may as well have pesos. I suppose there is a silver lining there too. When the illegal aliens (most of whom are Mexican) find that they can't make any more money here than they can at home, they will go back to Mexico. At least its warm there. Illegal immigration problem...solved!

I'd suspect that doctors might even start taking chickens for payment again. Healthcare problem...solved!
