A band that I played in; the one dude refused to practice the songs at home after about 3 wks of jamming together. It was an extremely difficult spot I was in; this dude was one of my best friends. I finally approached him about it and he told me the reason he went to band practice was to practice. If that meant him relearning the song every week so be it. I basically told him that if we were going to write new material at that pace we wouldnt be around in 6 months.Who the fuck says "I'm going to band rehearsal
Lets just say that band while fun because of the friendships; was just destined to fail. After we had the practice conversation; I started looking to do something else. I will never allow myself to get into that position again.

Musicians!!!!
Justin,
Shall we rehearse "Let's get fucked up" this weekend?
That would be superb. I'll bring the pinot grigio and gouda.
You bring the triscuits and pretensiousness.

The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

I may be off here but I think he was saying practice you do on your own, you practice your particular instrument. Rehearsal is when you all get together and play to rehearse what you do on stage. I practice by myself but rehearse in a group. This answer isn't coming out quite right . . . .
I absolutely hate when people learn the songs at practice, come prepared or don't show up. Totally different if you are writing originals.

That too!Killjingle wrote:actually I dont think we call it "band practice" either Brian.
I think we call it "are we jamming this weekend" lol
And to everyone else. I hope you know that I agree about the woodshedding or practice on your own thing, but you do have to practice at "rehearsal" too. Maybe if you're strictly in a coverband you don't need to, but I still bet you do.
Do some of you call your shows, concerts or recitals ,or reproductions if you play covers?
Fuckin Semantics, man.

But anyway........
Brian, you were at our practice that day.
Pretty cut and dry. Play, smoke, play,
discuss some stupid shit, see you next week.
Except when you were there it was: play, smoke,
listen to Brian get yelled at by his wife, play,
done. Still pretty cut and dry.
We don't worry too much about it.
As for who calls it rehearsal.........
I don't know. I don't think I've ever heard
it called rehearsal. Maybe bands like
Nickleback or something. Maybe Creed?
They might just call it mass or service though.
But yea......let me know what is going on with that
show in September.

Who CALLS it Rehearsal?
Ska bands, that's who.
As soon as I saw Totalitar in that other thread, I thought about you, and how you were gonna get me some more Chumbawamba cd's to listen to. I will bug you about this every time I see you, because I think you're the only other person in the world who likes them.

Me getting yelled at by my wife is just a part of my everyday life. regardless of which band is practicing. (even other peoples bands, obviously).
