What's your favorite instrument you ever owned?

Like the topic says, what was that instrument that was truly your favorite, be it a guitar, bass, drum kit, amp, ect & why? Do you still own it or did you sell it & regret it?

For me, it would have to be my Ibanez RG570. I bought it in '96 & I still use it as my main guitar. It's had a facelift & several pickup changes in it's time.

When I got it, it was one of those blue Metal Flake guitars, but I replaced the Ibanez pickups (V8, S1, V7) for a Dimarzio set (Steve's Special, Fast Track 1, Air Norton).

As I got tired of the sparkle finish (can't imagine why

), my buddy Kris & I refinished it & replaced the pickups again. Now it's a more traditional black with a white mother of pearl pickguard, with EMGs (85/60), with no middle single coil.

My favorite instruments are my two Carvins.

I bought the LB when I was a sophmore in college. I took my financial aid refund that was left over after my tuition was paid and bought it off of a really nice guy on Ebay (he was actually from Lancaster). It played like a dream straight out of the case. Rob (i.e., JackANSI) was just saying to me the other day that it has mojo. I was tweaking the neck on it last night, and when I played it to test out the action, I finally got what Rob was saying. I always appreciated the bass before, but I really never appreciated how much mojo it actually has. It has a more dark and pianoesque timbre. The LB has a five-piece Maple and Koa neck with Alder body wings. The pickups are J99s. I've played a ton of gigs on that bass, and I'd just as readily take it to a metal gig as I would a country gig and vice versa. It fits in, both tonally and cosmetically, with anything.

I ordered the Icon straight from Carvin. It was my present to myself for graduating college. The wait killed me, but it was definitely worth it. It has mojo as well. I spent a lot of time researching tone woods to get the combination I was hearing and seeing in my head. It's a figured Walnut top with a Mahogony body. The neck is a five-piece Walnut and Maple combination. The Walnut neck actually doesn't really match the Mahogony body all too well. The top covers the neck, though, and I did it primarily for the timbre of the Walnut neck. I went with a satin matte finish, which gives it the "dry" look and feel. It's been my main player for the past year, and it looks just like the day I recieved it. It's a lot more aggressive sounding than the LB and has a bit of a warmer vibe to it. It about ripped my head off with the stock Labellas. It has a set of Ernie Balls on it right now, which are a bit more mellow. I'd like to put on a more aggressive sounding set of strings again.

Always has and always will be the old Yamaha BBN5. Even though I don't own it, Paul's LB75 is probably the only bass that could unseat the BB.

best bass ever. spector euro4-35lx. best bass in the world as far as i'm concerned.

also my drums. nothing special. pdp x7's. they may have been cheap, but they sound awsome for what they are. i saw on pacific's website that they are now being offered with maple shells

but that's ok, i like mine the way they are.

My fave of all time is my Yamaha kit...

And my favorite snare is the one I bought from Bobby (Hurricane) recently, a mid-80's Yamaha 6.5" x 14" Brass snare. I'm in the process of restoring it, so it's in a bazillion pieces right now. But for years, if you saw Bobby playing with The 'Canes, you heard and saw this snare. I've coveted it for YEARS.

I also like to mention my Kramer Beretta:

Got it at one of the old guitar shows they used to have in Indiana at the old Omni building. It had a warped Fender Strat neck, a blown EMG 89 & a crappy Kahler trem (not the good ones like the Jeff Hanneman ESPs), but I loved the finish. Got it real cheap, took it to Obsession Guitars in Barnesboro & Greg rebuilt it for me. Now has a real Kramer neck, Ibanez Edge trem (doesn't float), & a DiMarzio PAF Pro.

I have yet to find a bass I like more than my '97 American Standard Jazz Bass

Its a really weird olive green color now, but 12 years ago it was inca silver

Even though it has yet to be dethroned, it doesn't stop me from trying. I have a jaguar bass that is pretty sweet, but its just not quite as perfect as the jazz is.

Please don't take this picture seriously, I was goofing off lol.. but this is the only close pic I have of this bass..

Its a 2000 American P Bass, it had a white pickguard on it but I thought the black on black looked sweet so i put the black pickguard on.. I love Fender basses

Loud drums for sure. I heard half this kit is still doing underage shows in town.

Wish i had a better detailed pic of the Yamahas, the rack was a cool setup. This is the kit the snare came from Kevin has now.
Notice Wallacks strat on the right.

Dont miss set up and tear down, a 5 piece is all good now.
