What I find hard to believe is Micheal Jackson had all this press when he died, but a week before that, he was still being labeled a child molester & a freak.
Most news sites list this as a secondary story, but if you think about it, how many things did he do for music to make the things MJ did possible?
The Electric guitar, stage sound, overdubbing in recordings just to name a few?
RIP Les, thanks for all you've done for us musicians. We will never forget.

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.
Definitely sad news.
He kept performing publicly into his '90s every Monday night at a New York jazz club. A few years ago, Hurricane Felix looked into organizing a roadtrip there to check it out, but found out there was a waiting list for people to get reservations to that show.
Another interesting fact about Les Paul...In 1948, his right arm and elbow were shattered in a vehicle crash. He convinced doctors to set his broken arm at a right angle in the guitar picking and cradling position, and it remained that way ever since.
One thing's for sure, his impact will continue to be felt in music long after his passing.

While in Milwaukee, Steve Miller's first guitar chords were taught to him when he was five years old by his godfather, Les Paul, pioneer of the electric guitar and multitrack recording. Les Paul and his wife Mary Ford were regular visitors at the Miller house and taught Steve Miller on the guitar. Steve's father, Dr. Miller, was best man at their wedding. Les Paul encouraged young Miller to use his prodigious talents, and much of Miller's success has been attributed to Paul's tutelage. Miller still uses some of the techniques taught to him at that time.Ron wrote:RIP Les.
Another interesting note: The best man in Les Paul's wedding was Steve Miller's father.

I always dug this performance with Chet Atkins joining in half way through.
