Yeah I'm a little late posting this but did anyone catch Ratt at the Clearfield Fair? One of my fav bands & this was the first time I saw them live. Wow. Pearcy didn't hit the high stuff like he use to but still sounded good to me. I was really impressed with Carlos Cavazo (former Quiet Riot guitarist). Carlos fit well with DeMartini and swapped licks back & forth different times. The highlight for me though was DeMartini. Warren is just a monster on guitar period. From bluesy fills to screamin' leads & wild bends he nailed it all & made it look way too easy. They played a bunch of the popular stuff then played the entire Out of the Cellar album. It rained most of the night but that didn't really seem to bother anyone there. Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg opened the show. While not my cup of tea these guys (& gal) put on a great show. The three out front were movin' nonstop except for Ramone who looked like he was reading a newspaper all night other than when he made this face that looked like he was eating lemons ha,ha!
Sidenote for the guitarists: DeMartini was running a Diezel VH4 & a Soldano SLO through vintage Marshall cabs. Cavazo ran the same Soldanos & cabs. DeMartini played two guitars all night- the white "Frenchy" and a black version of the "Frenchy" with a single coil in the neck and a D-Tuna. Both guitarists had killer tone!

Def more modern but with the 80's vibe if that makes senses. Every note was distinct & full, chords were meaty & cut through the mix nice. The engineer leaned towards DeMartini a bit more but Cavazo could be heard clearly as well. I'd really like to know what amp DeMartini primarily used-the Diezel or Soldano. Whatever it was it was meaty, probably the Diezel. DeMartini's lead tone was unreal-every note jumped out of the mix. Of course alot of that tone came from his hands. He could probably make a Gorilla 5 watt sound good ha, ha!

Glad Cavazo is still working! While the 80s guys weren't faves for me, I did
like his playing. The Quiet Riot album QRIII (I'm the one who bought it) had
some good songs on it.
Do like DeMartini's playing as well. He also always had some of the coolest
looking gits (And you have a copy of the coolest one! Really dig that mother!).

Listen closely to "Out of the Cellar", that album did not have the same vibe as a lot of the other 80's bands. The first EP had a very different sound also...
They always have played a great live show. I saw them a few times in the early 80's and always loved their shit...
They are also slated to put some new stuff out soon....
Glad to hear they put on a good show...

Hey thanks Dave! I love that Crossed Swords model. Have to get one of those Blood Drip models now. Way cool. Saw Slipknot last summer and one of their guys was playing a Blood Drip Charvel. Awesome!!! Yeah looking forward to the new album as well.
