When you resort to absolute lunacy who can argue in your realm?

Who posted anywhere that someone has the right to kill anyone else?????????????????????????????

You have to go beyond the absurd to try and make a point.

Infantile.
Wow, you suck as an NRA member. All gun control laws are bogus, right? Doesn't the slightest oversight fully negate your Second Amendment Right? The kid at VA Tech shot with legal weapons, and had red flags all over him. That's not lunacy, pal, that RE-A-LI-TY. He was a whack-job with a grudge and a gun-fantasy, and I'm starting to see that type of guy coming out of the woodwork. You're scared of your govt? I'm scared of the knuckle-draggers who think the president is a Marxist dictator, of the inbreds who swear he's going to kill old people, and of people who would risk a great tragedy to show the world he could afford a gun. You want absurdity? Attend a Tea Party. --->JMS

Well we can make arguments and spin all we want. The fact is that the people have the right to bear arms in this country. End of topic.

People also have the right to bare common sense.

Carrying a loaded weapon to a presidential event shows a lack of common sense. A gun in the hand of a man with no common sense is a scarry thing.

I agree with that, spend some time hunting in Pa.,especially the first day of deer season, there are some real dingbats out there who lack common sense....Oh wait, some of them are just plain stupid asses.

I also think carrying a gun to a Flame Sky show is stupid and at the least, quite unnecessary. Sorry uncjoe you're a good friend and all, and whitedevilone, met you before and you seem OK too, but sometimes I wonder about people. What kind of attitude do you expect from an old hippie? Sorry, carry on with the thread gunlovers.

Hawk wrote: lonewolf, did you read my rebuttal to your Federalist paper 23 ?
It wasn't a rebuttial, but it was a nice summary. It probably wasn't a good example on my part, but here is my favorite exerpt from the Federalist Papers where Hamilton clearly explains their position on the new Constitution and the federal government's relation to the states and to the people....Duh, what does DEFINED mean?:

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected.

The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.

The operations of the federal government will be most extensive and important in times of war and danger; those of the State governments, in times of peace and security. As the former periods will probably bear a small proportion to the latter, the State governments will here enjoy another advantage over the federal government. The more adequate, indeed, the federal powers may be rendered to the national defense, the less frequent will be those scenes of danger which might favor their ascendancy over the governments of the particular States."
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

I fired a drummer once because he had no common sense and constantly felt the need to play with his gun at band practice. Him not being very good also helped with the decision. Boy, I hope that wasn't uncontitutional.

There's a correct time and place for guns, but I guess since the constitution doesn't state specifically when and where, that means any idiot can carry em anytime, anywhere. Awesome

I probably also show up to Hoedown's and Summer Solstices' carrying. And so do several members of Flame Sky I would bet.

If you are getting the point, I carry a gun. It is my Second Amendment right to carry it. You do not. It is your right not to.

Even though you do not carry a gun with you, I will still think you are cool.

What happens if the other guy's gun is bigger? Or he can pull his faster? Or, most likely, you know him, and don't expect to be shot?
What if he just kicks your ass? I'm from a place where any of these is possible... people who, if you pulled a gun, would get really angry and beat you to death with it.
It's the old story, no matter how tough you are, there's always somebody willing/able to outdo you.
I don't carry because I don't need to. I have a gun, and plan on having others, but I'm just not afraid enough to carry. When the shit goes down, Joe, I am perfectly aware that you will be prepared. When the shit goes down, I will be elsewhere. :) One doesn't try to kill all the piranha in the Amazon, one stays out of the water.--->JMS

I am very glad you have this extraordinary power. I wish you had shared it with Scott Garlic, my son's friend who worked in Subway until he was shot, 2 months before he graduated.

Most of us normal mortals do not know when the shit is going to go down.

Joe, I agree with you 100% !

We have a constitutional right to bear arms. I have no problem with Joe carrying a loaded weapon. He went through the proper channels to do so.

I will admit I don't / won't carry a loaded gum because I'm afraid to. For some reasons songsmith explained above.

But don't be nieve to think that there aren't people out there packin illegal weapons.

Joe has a right. It's one I don't want to see taken away.

What if? You have your reasons, just like the rest. It's legal to bear arms. Can't argue with that.
