Im going to do it

Post by joltinjeff »

There seems to be enough interest in getting a benefit show together. I need some feedback from ppl on how many bands, where the benefit is going to be held, tickets, etc.
I am willing to go through with this, but I need some help since I have never done this, but this is a worthy cause and want to help.

I would be thinking sometime after the new year and maybe someplace big so we can pack them in. Figure tix to be about $15 or $20 all proceeds go to the Lisa and the Kidney Cancer Foundation. We find a pro to shoot the stuff and then sell the DVD with all the proceeds again going to the Kidney Cancer Fund.

Or does that sound really freakin stupid and I should let someone else do this.

JJ,

Doesn't sound stupid. Just have to keep a realistic scope.

I'm working on this, actually. Have spoken to a few people and am waiting for some
confirmations, etc. If anyone's interesting in playing it, please feel free to contact. Just
keep in mind that with these there are a limited number of slots. I'll provide any details
then. It's all just tentative at the moment.

Am looking to get it done before actual "winter" hits. If not, it'd have to wait until can
count on the weather to be more reliable (As for my part, from March to new kid birthin',
time will be nil. Obviously, anyone else can set something up then, if it comes to it, but
I won't be able to).

Meaning no disrespect, but $15-$20 is way too much to expect people to pay. Normally,
least every one I've ever been to, it's $10. Tickets...eh...another expense that most people
aren't going to be big on buying. Think most would rather try to make it and are okay with
paying then...but not before.

As for recording and selling a DVD, the amount it would cost to have it done, mixed,
edited, packaged, etc. would cost as much and more than can expect to make, PLUS,
to get the rights to sell all of the performances of covers, and pay the royalties from
those sells...would cost way more than you could ever hope to make.
