Local Musician Gabe Papetti Passed Away

Post by Hawk »

I doubt most of you know Gabe. Every Friday night for over twenty five years there was an acoustic jam at one of our friend's house. Gabe was there from the beginning. Harry Walter, Ken Oyler and Jerry Berkstresser were among the ones who use to join in. You never who would show up.

They even played some bars for a while. I joined in when I could with only a snare drum and brushes. It was great fun.

Gabe had a stroke a few months ago. The last I heard, he was improving. This evening I got the call...Gabe passed away.

Please remember his family in your prayers

I saw Gabe perform with "Friends of Mine," and also a time or two in his trio with Harry Walter and Ken Oyler, Midnight Flyer. Below are two pictures of Gabe and Midnight Flyer, taken at the Hitching Post in April 2005.

Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. He was a great person and a fine musician. I'm sure he and Harry are building a band in the Big Sky. His memory lives on.

Three people's lives were saved because Gabe donated his organs.
