chopper/bobber style motorcycles, anyone into em?

Post by EyesOfAnguishbassist »

So I've been wanting one for awhile now, I just love the way the look and as much as I loved my CBR600 rocket, driving 160 mph wasn't to my best interest, I'd rather just cruise and look cool doing it. But anyhow, I ended up trading my CBR for this 2001 Honda Shadow Ace and 2000$ that was bobbed out today, just got it. Anyone else into these kinds of bikes?

This one is lowered in the back, has the fenders removed, has Cobra custom exhaust (sounds awesome!), has the solo spring seat, and custom handlegrips and air cleaner cover. He also gave me some 16'' apes with it that I'm still debating putting on, I love the way apes look but I'm still thinking bout it, hell I barely knew where to put my feet on the footpegs since they were in front of me instead of behind like a crotch rocket.

Looks good, I think I'd want some kinda fender on the back though......... especially if ya get caught in the rain.
I had a 750 spirit, wich had the same motor, it was a good bike. I'm running 12" apes and the are really comfy, not sure about 16" they might be a little high.

I sat on it and put them to where they'd be to get an idea and I actually don't think they'd bother me, Im real tall and kinda shaped like an ape so I might be ok haha. But its winter so I'm gonna wait for a little bit and see if I change my mind.

Cool bike if that's what your into. I'll stick to my Kawasaki Voyager XII Touring bike. I like the idea of loading up for the weekend and doing some long distance riding in comfort, you know,500-600 miles a day. :D :D :D

Thats awesome, I couldnt even imagine riding that far in a day, most I've ever done was probably 120-150 miles in a day, then again I've never had a touring bike, but that sounds like a lot of riding! haha

Haha,my girlfriend and I rode yesterday and did 225 miles just messin' around. It's pretty easy to put some miles on a touring bike, having the full fairing keeps the wind from beating you up all day, trust me,that makes a huge difference. Plus having the radio and cruise control helps too, lol! :D :D

Looks cool, but I think I'd put at least a small fender on the back. I like it tho!

You're gonna need a longer clutch cable, your front brakes are hydraulic so you would need to redo the line and you'll need longer throttle cables. The wiring for the hi-lo beams, kill switch, horn,etc... will need lengthened as well. Fun fun fun :D :D

Not sure about cheapest but here is one place you can order them. http://www.motionpro.com/custom/index.php

I'd put them on over winter and get an idea how much extra you'll need. I've got a set of nice 12" apes if you don't wanna go real drastic to 16". They were to wide at the base and looked funny with the narrow glide front end I have. They would look good on that though. I got a different set styled more for the narrow glide. Some of your cables might even be long enough with 12" apes.
